It's funny: IT wouldn't have been the type of guy who i thought would be an ideal mentor for LaMelo. I mean, IT is more a score point, super undersized PG and his game doesn't resemble LaMelo's at all.

But it seems to be working, so it's all good!!

Plumlee's buyout is only 4.5 million dollars. Just sayin'.

Lol. Well he's not lying. That's about the only reason I pay attention to the Swarm basically praying Kai becomes the player I think he can.

it won't solve every issue, but even an average defensive center would go a very long way

I very much agree with this statement. Ive quietly been having concerns that lamelo maybe an empty stats kind of player and not someone who can impose impact on a game the way we would hope. At this point the hype exceeds his actual impact. Hopefully that starts to change. Right now his impact is far too reliant on making threes.

I don't think this is a change that can happen from coaching or teammates. I think this is 100% up to melo and his maturity level. I don't ever expect him to become some super serious Kobe type player, that's just not his personality. Lamelo can still be fun and quirky while at the same time being deadly f****** serious about dominating NBA. I'm not quite sure he has that in him though. Let's hope.

I mean, that just seems pointlessly negative toward a 20 year old that was very much the best player on a 43 win team. If he was empty calorie then how the hell did we get here?

I'm all about negativity after a game like that but I'm gonna focus it towards the big money no shows and the coaches that clearly had nobody prepared. Yeah LaMelo isn't ready for postseason basketball as a 1 option, neither is Cade Cunningham, Scottie Barnes, Evan Mobley, Jalen Green. That's what Gordon Hayward was supposed to be here for

Disagree with that. There were times where LaMelo played really hard like the Celtics game and he was a a dominant player that went toe to toe with Jayson Tatum. It just seems like those games are few and far between. He definitely has maturity issues, but hes 20. One summer it will click and he'll take every game seriously. Hopefully that's this summer.

I too would like if he got 38 points and went blow for blow with the Tatum's, Embiids and Giannis of the world every single game at age 20.

Unfortunately we didn't draft the literal GOAT

I think Melo was much more mature and showed better decision making skills this year. He was a bit whiny towards the refs near the end of the season so I hope that doesn't get worse. Still far from perfect, still plenty of room to improve.

If he stagnates over the next year or two I'll get concerned, but it's easy to forget how young he is even after two full seasons.

Year 3 is typically when a player takes a huge leap, but even then he will still he a young 21. His body still has a ways to go as well.

It wasn't the scoring, it was the active on defense and urgency. He was legit pissed they lost that game.

You don't think he was pissed they lost this game? Maybe he should have thrown his mouth guard at some kids face too? I dunno, this wasn't a game we lost cause we werent emotionally invested enough. They were tactically dismantled. If Trae Young was having a good shooting night we may have lost that game by 50. Our blitzing strategy was broken down within 3-4 minutes and we were cooked. As JB said, we did the same thing we did to them in the last regular season game. I guess the idea that they may have prepared a counter to that caught him by surprise. I don't know how that's possible, or that he wasn't embarrassed to say that in a press conference but it's right there

I don't necessarily believe this was filmed yesterday, regardless, how do we feel about this?

No one should be surprised that players get high before games. I'm more annoyed about the fact that it's more evidence about the immaturity. Why would you allow yourself getting filmed?
