Compare the ceilings of Barnes and Achiuwa
Both of these players are great prospects. They are Raptors only because of Masai who was able to see their talents better than anybody else. These players will become a bigger force to reckon with in coming years. What would be their ceilings?

Obviously Scottie due mostly to his playmaking and feel. But Precious is really good and has a much higher ceiling on defense.

S/O to TZ!

MVP/All-NBA and Allstar/DPOY.
But Masai did not really discover them.
Scottie Barnes was the 5th rated recruit according to RSCI and was going to be a top 5 pick.
Precious Achiuwa was the 14th rated recruit according to RSCI and was projected a potential lottery pick and fell to 20.
Masai did not discover 2 backups from South Dakota University.

Rough ceilings.
Scottie barnes - magic johnson + defense.
Precious Achiuwa - Chris Bosh OR (amare stoudamire + 3 pointer)

Kind of sounds like you're mad that Masai proved everyone wrong again. What's up with the such a negative sentiment about Masai

Not at all. I was one of the few users who wanted to draft Barnes and also backed Achiuwa when he struggled offensively to start the season and half the board wrote him off and wanted to send him to the 905.
The point I'm trying to make is that those 2 players had very obvious talent from the get go and not at all comparable to someone like Siakam or even OG.

An "overly optimistic" projection would be Barnes as a top 5-10 player, Precious as a top 15-25 player with slightly more time.

Scottie - hybrid of a rich man's Magic and Gianni's and better then both combined.
Precious - hybrid of a rich man's Ben Wallace and Golum because he can actually shoot 3s and will actually get his (champion) ring without having to fight a hobbit on the very steps of Mount Doom

Re: Compare the ceilings of Barnes and Achiuwa
Barns could very well be Magic Johnson personified with added defense and post offense while Precious is harder to project he could very well be just a solid starter/role player just like Luol Deng or he could really embrace his role as a stretch PF/C gain more strength and mass and be Ben Wallace with a three pointer. The off season will be key to both of them, it's their time to grow their games and their bodies for next seaaon.

Re: Compare the ceilings of Barnes and Achiuwa
I think Precious's game is looking more like early OG. Spot up shooter, a semblance of a handle, strong af and nimble enough to bully some points in the paint.
It's hard to say because of his role in Miami and how he started this season but if he continues this trend, his ceiling is elite 3+D player who can guard 1-5....which is basically what OG was before he started to build his iso game. Can Precious do that too? I didn't OG would get this far so I won't say no but probably not.
Scottie is a franchise cornerstone, potential top 7ish player one day (like a few other young guys in the league, all tbd of course) ESPECIALLY because we value defence and versatility over everything. So even if he doesn't become THAT good, he will be the most valuable player we have ever had except Kawhi and this season of Pascal, IMO.
But a chance to rise above both.

I am so high on Precious. Really think he could become an all-star. Scottie ceiling is MVP.

Re: Compare the ceilings of Barnes and Achiuwa
I think you guys need to tamper your expectations a little bit. Barnes will never have the physical attributes to become a Giannis / Magic clone. He’s simply too slow compared to them, for starters. There are plenty of very good to great players in the league history who have not relied on superior athleticism. Barnes may become one, too. He has enough talent / passion / work ethic / feel for the game to become a top 10 player, or even maybe top 5, but guys like Giannis and Magic are unique.
Regarding Precious, I think he can become a perennial All Defensive Team contender as he’s a great individual defender but until he plays a more active role in anchoring the defense, he won’t get many DPOY votes in the future.
On the other hand him becoming an all-star seems very unlikely as he’s still very raw offensively, although he’s shown flashes of brilliance from time to time. I’d wait to see if he can put it all together before claiming that he has an all-star ceiling. The bottom line is that he’s scored with terrible efficiency on below average usage this year, which is not going to cut it.

SUPER HOT TAKE: Achiuwa's ceiling is higher than Mobley's.
