If Boucher or Thad get a stupid deal, or for some reason want to leave, I think the game plan would be to S&T them to use the Tax MLE - otherwise I think we can expect them both back.

CLOSE TO SURE:
FVV/GTJ/OG/Scottie/Spicy/Achiuwa/Birch and likely Thad/Boucher = Top 9 Rotation that we know of.
10-Banton showed a good amount - if he can tune up his shot he's a Bench Mobber for sure. His next year rides on shot development.
11-Champagnie deserves a promotion, and doesn't look too far off being able to hold down a bench role. Takes Bonga's spot at least.

That's 11 spots+Full MLE and 33rd pick, and David J. on one of the 2ways.
That said, it looks like the pick, and a possibly split-up Tax MLE will be used on a bench-gunner upgrade, a ball-handling defender of any position, and a future(or MLE) Birch replacement.

QUESTIONABLE:
12-Brooks definitely looked like a Raptor out there, and I think with a full camp, could be deserving of a Bench Mob role.
13-If Svi picks up his option, I think he likely gets sold for a fake pick.
14-Malachi has his moments, and it sucks he got injured right as he was getting an opportunity. I'm much higher on Brooks, though.
15-I love Yuta's energy, but he's a 14th/15th man you toss in like a firecracker.
-One 2 way for either #33 or an undrafted pickup.

-Bye bye Bonga (unless he wants to stick around on a 905 only contract). Champagnie takes his roster spot.

I expect Thad and Boucher to stick around next year, and Justin and Dalano to be given opportunities to crack the rotation. Beyond that, there are simply no minutes in the rotation. Players like Yuta, Svi, Bonga and Flynn are simply wasted on this roster. I'm also iffy on Khem (though he's obviously part of the rotation) and Johnson (who I just don't see the upside with).

The time is ripe to bring in some high-upside developmental pieces that fit the vision and run them through the development program. I'd love to see us pry an additional draft pick in the late first/ early second from one of the many teams with multiple draft picks and limited roster spots (e.g. Memphis, Orlando, OKC) and use our picks to bring on a couple young prospects that could fit into our system after some seasoning (e.g. Leonard Miller, Ousmane Dieng, Blake Wesley, Nzosa). With some exceptions, I just don't see the point in bringing in lower ceiling upper classmen that simply won't have the opportunity to play with the big club.

I've gotta agree here, except that there's no minutes in the rotation. If there was a solid set of bench players to ensure minimal drop-off, the starters wouldn't have to play 35+ mins every game. It got by this year, but it's certainly not ideal. That said, I think refreshing the list of players you mentioned at the end is the right call.

What type of contract do you think Hartenstein will command? He would look good in Nicky Nurses system.

10M + Clips should resign him. Ballmers worth like 100 Billion. Dont think the tax will concern him next year.

If he chooses to stay. His per min production is ridiculous, but Lue didn’t seem to trust him that much.

Well they Have Zu, and also like to play small lineups at times. I think he's hooked up with some instagram model now so he might be liking the LA life. He's worth MLE though imo, and they absolutely should try to resign him. He's going to be better than Zu. Still young

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/266565/Malcolm-Brogdon-Likely-To-Be-Traded

He's owed 3 more seasons at $20 million. I trust him more than Trent and he can get to the bucket instead of missing floaters in the lane.

Flynn, Birch, Svi (waive), Brooks and David Johnson for Brogdon and Cash?

Go ballsy and trade Trent and Precious for Ayton (S&T)?

PG FVV - Brogdon - Banton
SG OG - Brogdon
SF Barnes - Champagnie
PF Siakam -
C Ayton - Boucher

I don't like it. OG is not a guard who can take to the rim consistently. Also even though Trent is inconsistent, his shotmaking is valuable and can't be replaced with this lineup.

I honestly think if Trent goes we need a really, really dynamic guard at the 2.

We need to trade Trent.. yes he is young.. but he is too inconsistent and he is one dimensional... doesn't rebound.. doesn't pass.... either he or Fred need to be traded or packaged for an upgrade... problem is we have three players (og, scottie, pascal) that really play two positions.. SF, PF... What will Masai do?

GTJ is a good decent starting SG, but ya, we need a serious upgrade there.....

I think Trent is a good sell high candidate. If Barnes can continue improving his handles, then we run Barnes and Fred in the backcourt with ball handling duties, OG and Pascal as the forwards, and see if we can trade Trent for a real C somehow.

They need to trade a C. They cant let it be 3 seasons in a row without a good C

What kind of return could Fred net that would improve the team immediately and for several years? I think that's the kind of question we need to think about.

I'm no trade expert but would either side do Fred and Birch for Lonzo Ball and Caruso?

That would definitely make our team way stronger and Chicago has been doing without both for a while now (I know Caruso is back now) and wonder if they would appreciate Fred on their team?

Honestly Gobert might be the move if he becomes available.

Gobert is most definitely the move.

Let's hope the Mavs beat them. Jazz will be forced to trade him.

How realistic is it for us to get both someone like Thomas Bryant and Gary Harris all within the MLE?

I don't think you get Ayton for Trent Jr and Achiuwa. Trying to see the reasoning for The Suns. They have Booker and they don't really depth at this price. If that's all it takes for Brogdon sign me up he is a guy your team loves to have and hates to go up against. Even if you keep Trent and say get Brogdon for that deal your getting a great sixth man or a guy who can come in and start and have Trent as a backup.
