Harden is at that point in his career where nobody will be shocked if he quits on his next team.

But he probably might also take the 250 million and screw Philly over.

For choosing to word the Tweet in that manner... if I was James Harden, I'd put this Zion Olojede on my blacklist of people I don't give interviews to.

It aligns with everything he says during postgame comments.

It’s just simply odd to say that while you are struggling in your “happy” situation.

Let’s talk Brooklyn for a second, how would you sum up your short stint in Brooklyn?

“Uh, it was a lot of ups and downs. I appreciate the Nets and the city for what they’ve done for me in that year and a half. This is a business and for me, I think my happiness is the most important thing so I had to make the best decision for myself and for my family. But yea, I appreciated the time in Brooklyn.”

James Harden is not unusual...many people are saying they do not have anything to prove. Which is the problem, people want respect without having proved anything.

He knows damn well he definitely does have something to prove & there will 1000% be a ton of pressure.

Nothing to prove is the weirdest thing to say for anyone in a direct competitive profession-

You have to prove you can beat the other team....which is what the 76er pay you for...or does harden simply play ball for fun and winning isn’t the proof point on if he has accomplished what they hired him for?

If a student said I have nothing to prove we would say...no you have to prove you know the material on the test...take the test...

The only people with nothing to prove in basketball are retired

Everyone gets a max contract based on talent but not based on their ability AND desire to win. Harden isn’t a max player because he doesn’t care if he succeeds at maximizing the outcome for the team.

This is why I would rather have Embiid crying when losing and pat bev freaking out when he wins vs harden who only cares about winning at the bank....but could care less about winning on the court

Wow he's feeling no pressure. Now I'm just imagining how much worse it will get when he does.

I have no problem if he doesn't feel any pressure. But he has nothing to prove? Really?

Harden's just trying to speak this "feeling no pressure" thing into existence. I think he's aware that there is a lot of pressure on him to have a great playoffs, considering his past shortcomings in the big stage and his playing alongside the likely MVP, Embiid.

I actually don't care much for what he said, I feel like it's just a boilerplate answer to give to the media...though I could see why he'd rub people the wrong way by saying he has nothing to prove. He has a LOT to prove given his track record. His most iconic playoff moments are shooting 2-11 from the field in two separate elimination games. Can you name any others? Maybe the huge three he hit in Game 5 in the 2012 against the Spurs, but he wasn't "the guy" yet.

For a lot of players who have been in the league for long, its just a job for them. The media makes winning/losing a bigger deal than it is, understandably to generate hype and attention.

Do you actually believe him though? There are generic answers that people can give, and saying one has nothing to prove can be a method people try to use to convince themselves of not feeling pressure. It usually means they are feeling pressure though.

I'm surprised so many people actually believe that he truly feels he has nothing to prove and has no pressure vs him trying to make it seem that way to the outside / convince himself of that.

No way Morey lets Harden walk at all; he traded for him and obviously the connection from Houston

Yes, there are a lot of talented players who do not love the game or even like the game, many players only play as a means of getting paid.

I think more of these type of players are becoming common, when before players played for pride in themselves and their teams/cities. This drove fan interest, which created city pride and thus rivalries.

Notice real rivalries are down or non-existent...this is a direct reflection of players that are not playing for pride or to prove themselves but instead they are playing for their next contract.....

0 rings
1 finals appearance (0-1, obviously)
4 conference finals appearances (1-3)
8 conference semi-finals (4-4)

And typically you don't see guys with a 'superstar' moniker being dealt so often. He's on his 4th team now, traded all 3 times, with 2 of the times being because he effectively quit on the team after he wasn't able to push them over the top. He's like the Ricky Davis of superstars, only in it for himself.

So yeah, count me among those who think he has a ton to prove in Philly, and it might be his last chance to prove he can do it as a top player. Because if the PHI thing fizzles out, whats next? Get traded to a treadmill team and have it be their 'star acquisition'?

Harden is right about one thing, the pressure is more on Morey than on him. If this win-now move doesn't pay dividends then Morey sacrificed The Process for a first/second round exit team.

If Embiid does end up wasted in Philadelphia, it won’t fall on Morey. It’s Colangelo and Brand’s mess. That Tobias Harris contract was awful cap management. Not to mention the Fultz/Tatum mistake.

And I don’t say this as any type of Morey defender. His claim to fame is riding Harden’s coat tails.

Harden is destined for Miami in the offseason. You know it. I know it. The only one that doesn't is Morey. Strip clubs are greater than titles

To be fair...the Sixers weren't going to win with Simmons so there's nothing really to sacrifice. Simmons is soft as hell, always has been. He wants to be a celebrity and live in a big market and be seen. He's got the big market now. But until he can learn how to shoot hes going to continue to underwhelm. Is there literally anyone on this board that would have drafted him over Jaylen Brown at this point?
