Diallo was our best ISO player on offense last season (in points per possession) and also Hayes and Diallo, according to LEBRON-D (defensive impact per 100 possessions), Diallo and Hayes were both in the range of 10-15th best guard/wing defenders in the NBA.

If Diallo and Hayes could shoot threes at a decent rate to space the floor for Cade we wouldn't have any need for a player like Bruce Brown but because he need more spacing on offense especially next to Cade we need to look at other options because Diallo and Hayes haven't shown they can catch and shoot open corner 3s at a decent percentage.

Brown, Diallo, and Hayes all being top 12 guard/wing defenders would certainly help the cause.

Honestly, Diallo being really good in ISO last season he also could likely use better shooters around him.

Frank Jackson would pair well with Cade as well, but we'd be giving up a lot on the defensive end so while it solves the problem of floor spacing it creates more problems as well.

I think part of the reason that Weaver traded Brown in the first place was because he is a solid role player that plays winning basketball... and we were trying to lose for a year or two. I think overall Brown doesn't have a high ceiling either but he does fill a defined role, ideally with 4 other good offensive players in a starting lineup where he just needs to be a 3 and D guy.

Whether intended or not, Weaver put Bruce in a better situation, with his skills fitting the Nets. He would have been in a battle for playing time with rookies and young players during these last two seasons, bad for all involved when losing is on the agenda and development is the priority.

Bruce Brown is a nice bench player.

This. Weaver did Brown a solid. I remember saying Bruce would be a great fit on the Nets around Kyrie & KD.

Brown is popping off again here in the 1st... but Kyrie & KD draw soooo much attention. BOS is really locked in on trying to guard those 2 guys. This is really the biggest difference between BKN & PHI after the trade; BKN has role players who can knock down shots. Them getting Curry in the deal was actually kinda huge (at least for this season).

Bruce Brown with a very solid night again... was better than KD or Kyrie. 23 points on 8 of 12 shooting and 8 rebounds as well as going hard on D on Tatum/Brown for 36+ minutes tonight.

Brown was great but you can't compare him to KD or Kyrie, did you see Boston defense against those 2? How many open looks Brown got because of that?

Brown is a good defender and a high bbiq, he is very limieted on offense, but I am super mad we donated him.

We can have him back for free we just have to give him money.

Of course he gets open looks from the guys getting blitzed, but you've got to hit those open looks and make the defense pay (which he did) or else it makes it even harder on the star players.

I've seen enough of him the last few weeks to know he'd be solid starting next to Cade, if a guy like Brunson goes way to high in price.... then we could look at other options next year and potentially move Brown to a bench role.

Saying he was "better than KD or Kyrie" is really misleading. Those guys faced swarming double & triple teams all night. Brown was the beneficiary of that.

He played well, but you gotta keep it in context. The C's got the W because they made the decision to lock down BKN's top 2 guys and live with other guys making shots. Dragic looked about 10 years younger in the face of that coverage & Curry also shot very well. It's what the defense was willing to give up.
