It helps that most of the voting occured before all the game 1 injuries.
No it doesn't. Raptors are a TOUGHER matchup, but they are not supposed to be the Sixers. If the Sixers lose to them, it's because of their own doing, and not because of the Raptors being a better team.

Im saying the votes would be different in hindsight.

The point is when both teams are healthy the 76ers should be favored. Even if the Raptors end up winning, it'd be an upset. I don't see how Barnes and Thad Young are the big difference makers here. With or without them I'd favor the 76ers.

Every Raptors fan knows that technically we are the underdog, but with our 3-1 record against Philly in the regular season and our recent streak of dominating playoff teams (12-3 in our last 15 against them) we had every right to be optimistic, and since there are so many of us the poll reflected that.

More has to do with teams resting their players and not giving their full effort at the end of the season.lobosloboslobos wrote:Dutchball97 wrote:Jcity08 wrote:

Perhaps the Raptors simply needed to wait their turn. They got a championship but now they are on the treadmill.
They literally had the 4th pick last year with right now one of the youngest rosters in the league.
It's been one game, now they a treadmill team?
It really makes that game 7 shot and holding Embiid to 0 points even sweeter knowing just how many people are still holding on to it like bruh, make it past the 2nd round before calling someone else a treadmill.
The Raptors are about to get swept. You are experiencing your future. Toronto Raptors Current Status: Treadmilling
Incorrect. The Raptors are a rebuilding team just at the start of their process.
Treadmill is a term given to teams like the Lebronto (Derozan/Lowry) Raptors who were good enough year in year out to compete but not go all the way.
I want to say the current Celtics team is in danger of becoming a treadmilling team.
They are a legit contender this year though so that separates them from other lesser treadmill teams with no hope of winning the chip like the current Sixers.
It's okay though, I'm sure you can always feel good about the other great teams Philly has right now in other sports.

Stop this over reacting. We beat the Sixers when they are playing for playoff seeding. The Sixers beat the brakes off the Raps in part cause the refs allowed to physically manhandle our players without impunity. The Raps will not get punked again. If the Sixers won by 3 pts we would be having a different conversation.
It was 1 game.

Username checks out.
And like.....really?
It's been one game, but now we should have kept Derozan and Lowry?
Why so you could dunk on the Raptors as Lebronto forever?
Anyways, whens the last time Phili won a chip?
Oh right, they haven't made it past the 2nd round in over 20 years. Heck even Melo's made it past the 2nd round.
Yeah Toronto won a chip, but that was because you guys gave up DeRozan for a Kawhi rental. Still better than us, but I wouldn't call beating a hobbled Warriors team some sort of great accomplishment.
Beating Embiid/Butler/Simmons/Harris was an accomplishment - that was also a championship caliber lineup

There was multiple blow outs (both ways) when we played in 2019. People acting like the series is over is just silly lol

If you don’t want Embiid to manhandle you don’t cover him with guys a half foot shorter than him and are giving up like 50 pounds?
I get that Nurse is just doing his job working the officials but I don’t really know what he expected here. There are trade offs to playing small. It’s one thing when Embiid just randomly sees all the random fronting and trapping stuff in the regular season but he’s had a week to prepare for the gimmick at this point. The rest of the team too like how many open runs to the rim did the Sixers get because the “center” was out of position fronting Embiid?
They need to start one of their centers and play him more traditionally. I assume that will be the big adjustment in game 2.

I had sixers in six but it's looking more like a 4/5 game series now.

I think he's referring to the illegal elbows Embiid was throwing at people...

The team that complain about the refs are the teams that are losing. This stuff is nothing new for Nurse, either. He did a TON of woofing about the refs back in 2019. Only difference this time is he doesn't have Kawhi Leonard.
The refs had nothing to do with the Sixers beating the Raptors on the offensive glass.
The refs had nothing to do with the Sixers only turning the ball over three times.
The refs had nothing to do with the Sixers having a 29-10 edge in fast break points.
If the Raptors come back in this series, it won't be because of the refs. It will be because they PLAY BETTER. But that won't stop Nurse from whining. It is his go-to move. Just watch him on the sidelines. He is a good coach - it is a shame that his sideline act detracts from that.
