The team that complain about the refs are the teams that are losing. This stuff is nothing new for Nurse, either. He did a TON of woofing about the refs back in 2019. Only difference this time is he doesn't have Kawhi Leonard.

The refs had nothing to do with the Sixers beating the Raptors on the offensive glass.

The refs had nothing to do with the Sixers only turning the ball over three times.

The refs had nothing to do with the Sixers having a 29-10 edge in fast break points.

If the Raptors come back in this series, it won't be because of the refs. It will be because they PLAY BETTER. But that won't stop Nurse from whining. It is his go-to move. Just watch him on the sidelines. He is a good coach - it is a shame that his sideline act detracts from that.

These are naïve as hell.

Need Celtics fans (all real NBA fans for that matter) to pray for Scottie, one of the league's brightest young stars.

Nice I'm glad someone put together a compilation. These kind of calls are especially tough on a team like the Raptors that rely on an aggressive defensive scheme.

Free points for Philly, early bonus situations, opportunities lost for the Raps and key players in foul trouble. They got outplayed but really tough to see that kind of officiating in what might be our only game at full strength now

Way to dismiss the horrid officiating. So you're saying you agree with those calls?

Kids such a beast. Even tho we were losing, I was having such a fun time watching him play. Was in total awe and mesmerized by the composure Scottie displayed in his ever playoff game. Damn shame what happened to him...

The greatest carry? Greater than Westbrook’s carry against GSW. It was a carry, but not easy to see in real time - even the Raptors players, the bench or the commentators never noticed.

I remember there was a kick out by Trent in the first half at the 3 point line who then flopped backwards. Calls go both ways.

Seems like a lot of salt. The Raptors got outplayed. That’s the reason. And the margin reflected that. I suspect adjustments in game 2.

That won't stop Philly. They'll just shoot 80%+ from the foul line.

Pretty obvious carry, but yes, the Sixers were called for somewhat borderline fouls too (some shown in the video above).

Dang sorry. I felt so bad for Scottie last night.

I still think you guys can play much better though. Gotta focus and raise the intensity. Play Raptors basketball. Find the mismatches on offense. Guard more physically. And run the ball. Raps are suppose to take advantage of their athleticism in this series but the Sixers were the ones running yesterday.

Sixers looked great but the Raps kinda helped them out imo. Next game could be different.

Good news is that Barnes’s X-ray was negative. Wishing him a speedy recovery and hopefully he can get back for Game 3. A great young talent.

Im fully expecting Siakam to get a scalding injury from soup and FVV to be out with food poisoning from a Phili cheese steak.

Thems the breaks. I just wish Scottie wasn't out. This kind of experience is valuable to young players and rookies regardless of the outcome.

Pretty obvious carry, but yes, the Sixers were called for somewhat borderline fouls too (some shown in the video above).

Two dubious calls were the first foul on FVV and the lowered shoulder by Embiid. Impossible to tell the rest from the purposely chosen distant camera. Up-close and multiple angles would have strengthened that guy’s argument, but that wouldn’t have helped his case. For instance, FVV brushed Embiid’s arm inside the paint. Can’t see it in the long shot.
By the way:
Embiid had 11FTA in 38 minutes
Barnes had 9FTA in 32 minutes
Centres draw fouls and Barnes drew more fouls per 36 than Embiid. But I guess Embiid was the only one who got the lucky breaks.

The officiating had a lot to do with Philly only turning the ball over 3 times. As highlighted in the videos above, there were 2 blatant turnovers that the refs missed early on (Harden with an egregious carry and Embiid plowing over Birch but getting FTs) and Milton kicking his feet out on a three which has been called an offensive foul all season (as it was on GTJ later in the game). If the reason the call on Milton's three attempt was made because of contact on the hand, isn't that a clean play by the rulebook? I thought the hand is considered part of the ball on a follow through and I could have sworn a recent game in the regular season was basically decided by a review that was confirmed as such.

FVV has been at the top of the league in deflections and steals for years, but he was basically taken out of the game on the defensive end less than a minute in and was in foul trouble all night because of some very ticky-tacky calls. Boucher also picked up a bunch of early fouls (two of them from literally standing straight up) which contributed to putting Philly in the bonus with ~3 minutes left in Q1+Q2 and ~6 minutes left in Q3.

All season long, Toronto was at the top of the league in forcing turnovers (#2 in OPP TOV) because of their aggressive style of defence coupled with length that leads to steals (#2) and deflections (#1) as well as unforced turnovers. Last night, Toronto had 1 steal (8 below season average) and 9 deflections (8.6 below season average) while they were called for 26 fouls (6.4 above season average). The officiating clearly had a large impact on their defensive intensity and gameplan.

The Raptors are about to get swept. You are experiencing your future. Toronto Raptors Current Status: Treadmilling

Incorrect. The Raptors are a rebuilding team just at the start of their process.

Treadmill is a term given to teams like the Lebronto (Derozan/Lowry) Raptors who were good enough year in year out to compete but not go all the way.

I want to say the current Celtics team is in danger of becoming a treadmilling team.

They are a legit contender this year though so that separates them from other lesser treadmill teams with no hope of winning the chip like the current Sixers.

It's okay though, I'm sure you can always feel good about the other great teams Philly has right now in other sports.

There is no such thing as being a legit contender without a superstar.
