When Kyrie was asked to carry a team he couldn’t. Dude quit on Boston.

And you caught him in Ramadan, when you're supposed to refrain from swearing. He seems pissed off that the crowd was not happy about his earlier antics (lighting sage before a game in Boston, stomping on the leprechaun, etc.). If you don't want people to treat you like an a-hole, try not being an a-hole.

The Celtics are something like 5-16 in close games. Pulling out this game was both surprising and a huge confidence builder. However, if they are ever able to build a 15 pt lead at home, they can’t give it up so easily again. They got lucky today.
5-16, but we gotta check dates of those games. Just a weird season for Celtics and nets. This is a pair of, by performance healthy, 60-win teams.
If Celtics go go .500 in those close games this year , which is what it probably should be, that is a 61-win team.

nets never played at a 60 win pace, healthy or not

Two great teams. Brilliant performance by Irving today. Celtics defense and clutch play in the 4th quarter was too much for the Nets though.
I thought the season might go 7 games, but I went with Celtics in 6. Might go only 5 actually.

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

Would have been bad if Jaylen or Marcus took a forced shot, but they kept the play going, didn't worry about the clock, and made the right passes. 2021 Celtics at the beginning of this season would have taken a forced shot and blew it.

Yes.
Idiots. They are banking on the nets winning . If Celtics win, upper hand Boston.

Basing on Game 1, that's a big IF.

i do admire the Celtics spirit in not wanting to dodge anyone but they'll be regretting it as it appears this series vs Nets will last up to Game 7 while the other two series will be over in 5.

Daft question but shouldn’t flipping of fans in multiple instances during a game award you a nice all around technical foul and potentially an ejection if not stopped ??
I don’t specifically suggest he wasn’t taunted but ffs grow up Kyrie guys like Westbrook and Lebron this year, Durand in previous years have had it way worse.

Kyrie is outstanding but..... this is in MJ's layup package.
https://youtu.be/-qCCm0V4hvw
I mean, he did stuff like this on a nightly basis, as well as literal perfect footwork. I just don't understand what he can't do that Kyrie can, except ball handling. And MJ had a better jumpshot inside 25 feet than Ky, we're talking a guy who shot 50% for his career at the guard position.
Can MJ float the ball with either hand? Shoot 90% from the FT line? Finish off either foot? Do a step back? Euro step? Shoot 40% from 3?
MJ is a legendary scorer but he is also 6'6. At that height, it is much easier to score with simple moves. Ky is smaller so it is much harder for him to score and yet he does it with ease.
If MJ had Ky's offensive skillset, he would average at least 40ppg
I'll give Kyrie the range argument.
Euro step wouldve been a travel in 1991

I didn't see MJ take floaters like Kyrie but he didn't need to because of his ability to get into the paint and finish around the basket at a higher percentage than what is typical of floaters.
I brought up body control because although Kyrie gets the most out of his skill for his size, he does not have the acrobatic ability that MJ has and that has nothing to do with height. For example, Derrick Rose was a good approximation for a much shorter guy with that level of body control and ability to finish around the basket with creativity. (Kyrie has a better package than Rose overall, was just an example of one facet).
Kyrie wins on floaters, outside shooting, step backs. MJ had better fades, turnarounds, dribble pullups (superior accuracy), finishing around the basketball in general. I think there are things Kyrie did because he wasn't a 6'6" super athlete.... but he also didn't possess MJ's body control which has little to do with height, and allowed him to attack the basket in many different ways an not be trapped.
I'll take MJ's superior body control to Kyrie's floaters and stepbacks, especially with the huge gap in efficiency.

We may have gave up a pick but that Kemba/Horford trade is looking not too shabby for us right now.

Probably true, but it going to game 7 only give the TimeLord more time to come back for the Celtics.
This team has 0.0% depth on it, and without the TimeLord it's also one of the least athletic teams in the league. He makes up for all of that by being one of the best rebounders and rim protectors and lob threats in the game.
His value to the Celtics team is far greater than another team specifically because we have so little athleticism on the team.
In the rotation we have Jaylen Brown who has great hops.
Tatum who has average hops.
Then White, Horford, Smart, Theis, Pritchard, Grant have low to horrible athletic ability. Which hurts them a lot and they often need Rob in the dunker spot to toss an alley oop at to bail them out when they get stone walled due to it.
I would have a lot of confidence in the Celtics if Rob was healthy. They had 14 offensive boards with Theis, Horford, and Grant in the front court? That's a joke none of them can rebound. The TimeLord average 4 offensive boards a game alone, in this series he might average 8 a game if the earth bound and in Grant's case 6'5" guys who can't jump can do that to the Nets just holy ****.

Re: Eastern Conference | Round 1 | (2) Boston Celtics vs. (7) Brooklyn Nets
Nets are such a strange team. They really need a third player to step up. Most obvious candidates at the moment being Curry or Mills. Right now it's Durant and Irving taking turns being superstars in order to overcome poor defense and lack of offensive production from teammates. The crazy thing is and what makes them strange is it almost worked. The Celtics needed a miracle lay-up at the end of this game to win despite all the Nets shortcomings as a team.

What? This might be the one of the dumbest takes on the board.
1. There is no way that any of the teams could have known who would get the 7th seed and who would get the 8th seed.
2. You're going to have to face good teams to win a championship anyway.
3. The Sixers were 10-5 in their last 15 games (5-1 in April), the identical record as Brooklyn. They lost to the Suns, Bucks, Raps x 2 and Pistons. Just so happened that the Celtics went 11-4 in their last 15 and won the tie breaker. The Sixers weren't ducking anybody. Apart from the Pistons, those other teams are pretty good.

This is an absolutely ridiculous suggestion. Kyrie isn't physically attacking or getting into confrontations with fans. He's just dishing back what is being given to him. Maybe Celtics fans need to grow up too, just a suggestion.Theocy wrote:Daft question but shouldn’t flipping of fans in multiple instances during a game award you a nice all around technical foul and potentially an ejection if not stopped ??

You know what's hilarious Celtics roster and management are still buds with Kyrie. This whole entire hatred is just a mass manipulation originated from the Celtics media and there fans are falling for it.

It’s in the **** rulebook. Profanity awards you a technical. There’s quite a bit more in the rulebook hppy to share. It’s not absolutely ridiculous he was FLIPPING off the fans in multiple instances. All in just turn around and give em the bird.
I dont love it when fans seem to focus on a single player and perhaps overdoo it, but all i saw this game from tv was Kyrie giving everyone the bird after scoring.
Maybe you need to take off your Nets tinted glasses for a sec too ?

It’s good for the league too. Let’s be honest here. Unless it gets a game derailed. It doesnt
