As a minority from the Boston area, you clearly know crap about Boston.

Also, lol at the logic of ‘take away a large segment of the population and see what’s left!’

they can dislike whoever they like. but the original question was why celtics fans have this much disdaine and vitriol (not merely dislike) towards kyrie so much. and my answer is because boston is a city of racist ****. and yes kyrie obviously makes it easy to dislike him,
do you have any evidence that they hate him because he’s black? i mean they seem to love all their other black players. then there’s one that treats them like crap and they hate him and that just automatically makes them racist? most of the nba is black players. so anytime a fan base hates a player greatly it’s racism?

Holy **** i mean people can be really stupid with the racism claims. So Tatum, Brown are out little black ballers but when it comes to Kyrie that’s a bad black dude right ?

Kyrie is a moron. Not necessarily a bad person just a huge **** moron who knows he is a moron, is being called out for being one and doubles down on his moronic approach thinking he will eventually break through.

I’ve read articles about boston and weird cultural issues, i know racism is still a thing, celtics fans are obviously butt hurt about this and perhaps a bit over attached to Kyrie and making him feel pain, the booiing is most likely crossing a line and it’s not really classy but kyrie is a **** moron. An uneducated rich lad who has no game other than his basketball game.

there's quite a few nba athletes that have had incidents with boston fans that involved racism. kyrie, marcus smart, john salley. not just the NBA either. It has happened in baseball, hockey. a simple google search will reveal alot of news on it. furthermore, boston the city has an ugly history of racism that extends beyond professional sports.

Ugalde wrote:i mean they seem to love all their other black players.

right, until they do something they don't like. nba players disappointing fan bases isn't new or that uncommon; kyrie did it to cleveland too. the level of vitriol from specifically boston fans is what we're talking about here.

i mean... this is kinda like, "i have black friends so i can't possibly be racist"

then maybe you should learn more about the history of your city and the pattern of individual and systemic racism that boston is afflicted with. it's much bigger than sports and seeps into public schools, housing, etc. racial relations is a nuanced and complex discussion that goes way beyond than just boston votes democrat so it can't be racist, but surely you know that.

I know this history of the city. Do you know the history of the country? Singling out Boston as uniquely different than other places to the point of being considered ‘redneck’ despite the voting tendencies being the opposite of rednecks is inflammatory and disrespectful to an entire region.

This country has a race a problem. Let’s not pretend Boston is worse than other northern cities, I’ve experienced racism in NYC than Boston for example. I’m not going to generalize the area.

Please stop derailing the topic. This topic isn't about the city of Boston or racism. If anyone wants to discuss racism, use the current affairs. here.

There are various posts in this topic that explain why Celtics fans dislike Kyrie.

The reasons presented would make any fanbase in the league dislike the player.

Apparently even Cavs fans have issues.

This is a sports board, we've known Kyrie forever and it's reasonable to assume that Boston fans don't hate him because he is black... since pretty much every other fanbase would react the same way. Every fanbase has players they hate. It's normal in sports.

Lucky is like a son to Danny. LOL. Danny kissed him on he lips !! It's a drawing on the floor. Opposing players step on lucky all the time. They slide across lucky ass first. come on Danny this can't be real.

Kyrie looked at that fan in the eyes. And the fan realized he was not about that life.

I said northern rednecks. excuse me for my creative and metaphorical use of language.

i think boston is doing a good job of singling itself out with repeated incidents of racist fans in all major professional sports... there's a reason why boston is known as the most racist northern city amongst minorities (and they have moved out in droves to get away from it) and minority professional athletes.

this country does have a race problem, but let's not play whataboutism here, boston is clearly leading that problem in the context of racist fans.

edit: looks like i got boston fans triggered. you can keep pretending you don't have that reputation and the reputation isn't deserved. i'll take my warning and gtfo.

I’m a minority. You are basically trying to tell me how to think. I actually have the life experience to tell you that you are wrong in your inflammatory opinions. You don’t really understand what whataboutism is either apparently. Pretty normal, trying to tell minorities how they should think, though. I’m used to that irony. Good on you.

EDIT: just saw Dirk’s post. Sorry, Dirk. Hopefully didn’t break a rule there.

Because they were so adamant he wasn't going to be a problem in Boston like he was in Cleveland, he was, and then he ditched them after promising to stay. They're scorned and learned their lesson.

There is also that time Kyrie had the protein shake farts and wore the Celtics own mascot uniform for 30 min before the game. The mascot guy damn near fainted from the smell. You can see the mascot take the head off the uniform multiple times during the game.

Pretty **** up.

I don’t think it’s “so much”. Just ur average superstar leaving a team reaction. It’s growing since Kyrie has been leaning into it and it becomes a topic of convo which fans the flames.

There is video of him telling Durant the two of them should team up in Brooklyn during the 2019 all star game when the Celtics were still in the middle of the season and gearing up for a playoff run. I'm over it, obviously the situation in Boston ended up being a bad fit for both him and us in the end and so it's better for everyone that he parted ways, but let's not pretend he was super jazzed to be in Boston and only ended up in Brooklyn because KD forced his hand. He tolerated Boston for two years because it wasn't Cleveland.
