Hayward pretty much lived up to what we hoped.....and feared.

The good: we won more with him than without, Ball and Bridges grew tremendously with a savvy vet in the fold the past two years.
The bad: Oft-injured for the latter parts of the season and a salary that is now an albatross based off on-court value.

What else would have to be packaged with him to IND for Turner this offseason? If we keep our pick and land the Pels' pick, would Gordo + 1 FRP be enough? We'd still have a FRP to make a selection.

Particularly brutal that he's been thoroughly outperformed by the guy we waived and stretched so we could sign him.

Wait what? lol

I always tried to defend him, and the front office for signing him. Some players just can't stay healthy. He will probably magically get healthy sometime in the future once he winds up on a contender.

It's a real shame, because he was exactly what this team needed when healthy.

I'll be shocked if he's on the roster to start the season next year.

Looking like hes going to end up missing 40% of the season. Not a good sign for a 31 year old in the first year of a huge four year contract imo. Even with his good numbers/efficiency I don't know how you can justify tying up 40 million in cap space for him.

I think it's pretty obvious it was a dumb move to sign him. Injury prone and he's clearly not a quick healer. That last year screams buyout.

What kind of long term damage can be done with an ankle sprain? It's not like he's coming back from an ACL injury or an Achilles. Hayward's toughness should be questioned right now. Unless he wants to come out and clarify that it was something worse than an "ankle sprain" lol.

At best he is a slow healer. At worst he is soft. Neither are great attributes for a guy taking up a big chunk of our cap (plus stretch!).

If we can deal Hayward, Rozier and Oubre to the Lakers for Westbrick, THT and Reaves we should be banging their door down to get this done. We can likely fleece them into giving up picks too judging by the consensus on the trade board.

He's so important to us and has all the ability we need to be a winning team.

But what's the old saying? The best ability is availability?

Big disappointment. He can be as good as he is, but if he doesn't see the court...

He'll probably be in BFHOS one day.

- Injured half his time here.
- We waived Nic to sign him...and are still paying him.
- Biggest contract in team history.

Trading him for Westbrook would be the cherry on top.

Lol he doesn't even come close to being in the BFHOS. if we're going to put him in just put in almost everyone. It's like saying Greg Oden is a bust because he had a bad injury. Ridiculous

I didn't notice last night but watched JBs presser today..Hayward didn't even make the trip to Atlanta? 30 million a year not only to not play on a sore foot but hopping on a chartered jet to support your teammates is too hard as well? So done with this dude

He's a pussy and he doesn't care about this team. Basketball is just a job for this guy and he sure as hell isnt risking hurting himself over something as trivial as a play-in or play-off series.

Westbrick for Hayward and Rozier is still available.....
We'd be silly not to.

Blazers Fan here - Would Hornets fans take a sign and trade of Nurkic, Eric Bledsoe for Hayward, Pels FRP? Maybe add in a future protected FRP or 2 seconds.

I come in peace! Just gauging how badly Charlotte wants to dump Gordon?

One thing nobody talks about with Gordon is he has a 15% trade kicker so it’s going to take an attractive trade - not one with CHA adding FRPs; I don’t think mgmt want to dump him

Also Gordon can still play he’s just hurt a lot but so are Nurkic and Bledsoe so I wouldn’t want to add picks etc to bring back other injury prone players

I don't think he needs to be dumped with picks. Thats a non-starter. Its a 2 year deal.

13/15 and Hayward for Brodgon and Turner is the most I would go, as all three players are injury prone but Charlotte gets the better pieces that fit. And I'm not even sure I would do that, honestly

Including picks to dump Haywards contract is the kind of short sighted move that would set us back immensely. We aren't some big time destination like the Lakers where we know a player would come if we free up money. Plus he's still a very good player. Just can't stay healthy. Unfortunate.

it would be completely stupid to trade hayward without getting anything in return, and especially to include something to dump him. Pure cap space this year, you could sell me on... But just a deadweight 1 year contract that doesn't solve an issue for us and nothing else? I'll keep the efficient 17/4/4 guy and hope he can be healthy for a play in game/playoffs next year, thank you.

I wonder if Hayward + one of the picks for Harrison Barnes and Holmes (if the legal issues are resolved and he is innocent) would make sense. Especially if you guys can draft Williams with the other pick. Use Holmes as a stop gap solution if Williams isn't ready right away. He should be pretty tradeable the year after, if he has an okay year. Barnes is an expiring and shouldn't be a bad fit. You guys would save like 19,5M in 23/24 and Sacramento would get a guy, who can put up 17/5/4 if healthy.
