Gary Harris
If we can’t get Brunson or Sexton what y’all think of Harris in the backcourt with Cade he can shoot and play defense

I think he'll be 28 next season. Not exactly the direction I hope we go.

Re: Gary Harris
I'd pass I don't think he's that good. Maybe a decent bench player for the right price.

Re: Gary Harris
It very much depends on price and playing time expectations. We don't need any expensive vets that take up playing time from our young core.

Re: Gary Harris
I'd be down if he can be had for cheap. I wouldn't give him more than what we're giving Diallo. I just feel like at this point I want Frank Jackson out of the rotation, and Hayes playing a very limited role with limited minutes (unless he can start hitting shots at a decent %). So I do think we need another guard and ideally its someone who can hit 3s at 35+% and play some decent defense.
1. Bruce Brown for cheap
2. Gary Payton Jr for cheap
3. Garry Harris for cheap

Re: Gary Harris
I have no problem if he comes cheap. This next year, and the year after are going to be dev years for the team, so trying out pieces, not trying to hit a homerun at every position is what's needed.
If the Pistons land top 3, they are going to select a big. There are a bunch of 2 gaurds I have zero issue landing to see how they play with Cade.
Monk
Brunson
Harris
Lamb
Doesn't matter really. They would all be short term, unless they absolutely fit perfectly with Cade.

Re: Gary Harris
In 7 seasons, he’s played more than 60 games 3 times and only once played more than 70.
Not exactly an Ironman.
It all comes down to price and role as others have stated.

Re: Gary Harris
Edwards mentioned him as a plan B or C. Hes saying plan A is going to be a run at Brunson.
I'm not gonna be upset if we draft a forward ship Grant out and then sign Harris to man that spot for a season or two on the cheap. Hes obv not a long term solution its just a body whos solid when healthy.

I would be upset if Gary Harris is our starting scoring guard. He hasn't been healthy, good, or relevant in a while. I'm certainly okay with signing on a vet minimum and hoping a little home-cooking resurrects his career.
The whole Brunson daydream right now presupposes we land in the top three. More likely than not we will be drafting our starting two guard if we don't.

Hes a stop gap. We can sign him to get to the next free agent class which is going to have better players available. I actually would prefer grabbing Harris and letting the spot play out then spending big on Brunson. Also if by some miracle Killian learns to shoot(5%ish chance at best) it keeps it so we dont heavily invest there on another player. Not saying Harris is a dream just hes fine for where were at.
If we land outside top 3 its going to likely be Ivey/Mathurin/Sharpe/Murray so likely a guard in that case which is fine no Harris. I still prefer the world where we get one of the bigs and then grab the guard later.

Re: Gary Harris
As far as a plan c or d or whatever. I’d honestly prefer to sign Malik Monk. He’s younger and honestly would like the stability after last season, as well as a clearer path to a role

If they sign Harris or monk that means Cade is your pg and Casey like to have two ball handlers that’s not monk game

I agree. I personally don’t think we should sign either, but prefer Monk because quite honestly he’s younger.

Re: Gary Harris
I’d put him in the top 7 FA guards out there that might be available to us, Brunson is probably the only one worth more than short two year deal. Kinda like Bruce Brown but for completely different reasons obviously, he’s wouldn’t be the worst option, and if the two or three free agents are gone this will look like a decent move, we need some veterans, especially Ifwe plan on trading Grant for a pick.

Re: Gary Harris
I’d view him as another in a line of unenthusiastic veteran guard pickups. He’d find company among Delon Wright, Wayne Ellington, Cory Joseph, Rodney McGruder, Tony Snell, and others I’ve likely missed.
To be clear, he’s not as bad as all of those guys, but he’s not really moving the needle for us.
I wouldn’t be upset, wouldn’t be thrilled. Like most of those other adds.

Do we need to sign every failed player from Michigan State or Michigan just for parochialism?
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

You saw how long people wanted Tiger Stadium to be left standing, right?

I agree with your sentiment, and I don't want Harris, but he's not a failed player. He's a guy who actually exceeded expectations (mine, anyway) at the pro level. He's had a nice career and was an impact player over the years for the Nuggets when healthy. But he's always hurt.
