Not excited for either Rob or whatever Jeannie and her friends have planned next.

Rob should be spared only if
1. he did NOT approved of the Westbrook trade at first, then he goes to Jeannie to let her know his main concerns of bad fit but Jeannie probably talked to AD and Lebron and got assurances from them that they will make it work.
2. Pelinka actually consulted Frank Vogel about acquiring players like D'Andre Jordan, Ellington, Bazemore and Ariza, then Frank said, yes, he likes those players.
3. Rob pleaded to Jeannie to resign Caruso, give a decent offer to Scott Brooks to assist Vogel and for them to trade for Christian Wood but Jeannie said no!
4. You fire Pelinka only if you have a much better GM in mind, if it's Magic or Rambis, then HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if they just haven't told Rob yet... If he 'takes responsibility' then we've had essentially 2 horribly constructed teams around LeBron and AD... In a row... That's 2 out of 3 years he's been in charge... I'm not sure any other GM would survive that...

Name a team that had AD and LeBron on it and had just won a championship, who emptied the roster right after, barely made the playoffs the next season, and missed it the season after, and still wouldn't fire the GM?... Maybe San Antonio, only because Pop is the GM.

Rob has been given too many chances for a Lakers GM.

We all know Rob has his job because of his connections to the owner and her friends. That fact alone speaks to the problem.

I feel like Magic would still be running this if he hadn't quit.

Scapegoat activated....

That tweet about the Buss family and Rambis family making decisions on personnel is the most bush league things I've seen in a while. Other teams have seasoned professionals.... we have a former agent, trust fund kids and a sewing circle at the helm...

Nooooo Mark Jackson... no never that would be it for me... this year was beyond stupid, but that would be it. sold off every young player, let LeBron be the worst gm in our history, and then hire a guy who lost even the ushers with his bs in the stint with Golden State? noope....

fire both Rambis, and keep weird ass Pelinka who I think is capable but wild. and be freaking classier... hearing Quinn Snyder was unimpressed with the way Vogel was fired is concerning because you need to be very classy with a coach being fired even if it's Byron Scott. That coach got a chip.... ffs.

Post this question a few time: what better coach is or likely to be available in the coming months?

The Nick Nurse rumor is 100% undiluted clickbait.
Snyder isn't coming here. Plus it's already been reported that he isn't too interested based on how we treated Vogel.
Kerr is a pipe dream. I probably have a better chance of making it to the NBA than Kerr coming here.
Assuming Doc is possible - would he even be an upgrade? Always thought he was a bit overrated.
Mark Jackson - This would be a new level of stupidity. I would boycott this team if this were to happen.
Howard would be a fool to leave Michigan for this **** show.
Any takers for Fizdale?
Phil is done coaching. This has been case for the past 7+ years.
Are we even ready to pay a premium for a top-tier coach? We've been cheap the past few years.

I think it's likely we'll hire either a rookie coach or a failed coach who's bounced around the league quite a bit. We need a culture change at the top more than anything else. If I were to guess i'd say Fizdale is our next head coach.

I think someone should start a thread and poll who's likely to be our next head coach.

1. Phil Handy? Well respected by many but I’ve seen him clashed with Lebron before over a blown rotation and it was ugly. Phil might get a heart attack dealing with these superstars.
2.Im guessing Jeannie and Magic would consider ex Lakers again like Fisher, Byron Scott. Rambis would be too wise to avoid getting fired from his beloved team.
3.Meh on Fizdale but James really like him.
4. Dave Joerger? Didn’t end well with Kings owners event though he did well there.
5. Terry Stotts? I like those offensive schemes he used in Portland but I’m not sure it’ll work with James who has sticky fingers

It was said that jeanie felt Rob was an extension of Kobe and we already know her heavily dedicated relationship to the rambii :banghead: . We're just in a bad position all the way around and looking worse going after contracted coaches like we have assets to use on that front. This all is as close to the twilight zone as I've ever been in my life and I can't understand how mgmt can be so clueless.

I like the idea of Mark Jackson. He seems like a strong leader who knows how to galvanize the troops. Curry and Draymond Green speak very highly of him, and they're both extremely intelligent and thoughtful. I think he'd wonders for Davis. He seems to be right choice right now.

A recent article argues that the Lakers coaching job is not particularly attractive. Who wants to coach LeBron James at the end of his career, with all the headaches that come with that position? Or take on the job when the status of Russell Westbrook has yet to be determined? The manner of Vogel's release did not sit well with other coaches around the league, either.

How about making LeBron James the team's player-coach?

Bill Russell, Lenny Wilkens, and Al Attles were previous player-coaches.

Coaching is such a crap shoot. We judge players based off their statistical performances. Coaches don't have stats, just wins and losses. The rest is just conjecture.

There's zero desperation here. I think Pelinka should've been fired and the new GM allowed to decide who will coach.

As it stands now though, they need a guy with a particular set of skills (in my best Liam Neeson voice). The new coach needs to garner respect from the two stars, which means they will listen to his ideas and acquiesce, and the new coach must garner respect from the front office to be left alone to do his job.

Out of all the potentials who are not currently under contract, Mark Jackson and Phil Jackson fit this criteria the best, IMO, with

Mark Jackson getting the edge because he's not pushing 80 and hasn't beefed with James.

The Lakers should bring back Mike D'antoni, keep Westbrook, and bring in Jeremy Lin as backup PG.

Why? So we can prove yet again that a team chucking 40 3's a game will not truly contend?

Why not dust off Magic and let him Coach, be GM, President of Basketball operations and a back up guard off the bench.... While I joke.... if it happened it would most likely be a better option than letting Bron coach.

Are you opposed to having one person both as a player and as a coach or are you just opposed to LeBron as the player-coach?

Russell, Wilkens, and Attles did quite well wearing both hats; Russell even won a championship (against the Lakers) while playing and coaching, too.

Also, if not LeBron, then who would your recommend Jeanie, Rob and the Rambis couple look to hire to coach the team?

Also Dave DeBusschere. Personally, I think LeBron would be a horrible player-coach because there would be no one to call him out for his deficiencies or change his isolation offense.
