Some mocks drafts are showing that EJ Liddell might be available to us at #18. Kessler will be available. But I'd add Liddell and hope we could sign a Free Agent "5" or do a sign and trade for someone like Bamba. Patrick and Liddell would be a nice combo sharing the "4".

Our grand plan to establish ourselves as contenders, then tank the last few weeks for a better pick, is all coming to fruition. Now we just have to remember how to shoot and we'll take the Bucks.

Would love him. Lefty that can shoot. Feels like he’s a year behind his brother developmentally. Once he fills in I think he can play backup C too.

Plus in a few years, we'll be have both Keegan, and LaMelo demanding trades to play with their bros.

Getting the 18th pick instead of the 19th has me way, way more hyped than it should.

lol! Appreciate it.

This may shock some of you, but I've barely watched most of the prospects this year, particularly outside of the lottery - had a lot of other basketball stuff going on that it's pushed it to the back-burner.

What I have done is watched every NBL game this year, so I've had a really strong look at all the prospects playing here. I can definitely comment on them right now, not necessarily in relation to other prospects, so I can't tell you 'this should be THE guy at 18', but I can give you a rough range.

Ousmane Dieng sucked the first half of the season. Like, 'worst rotation player in the league' level sucked. I didn't think he'd even have enough stock to declare this year. But his team continued to push opportunities for him because he wasn't in a win now situation, and half way through, he just absolutely turned the corner. I spoke to an International NBA scout the other day, and he said not to underestimate how hard it is for a European kid to transition to a whole new culture and experience like this.. his teams been on the road literally all season because of COVID, too. He's been exceptional the last 10-ish games, and they don't feel like outlier production, they feel like he's figured things out. At 6'10+, he can legitimately be a secondary ball handler, he's a solid passer, and he has a lot of comfort shooting self creation jumpers off the dribble (iirc he shot 42% on iso-3's this year). The biggest change came mentally; you could see him be way more aggressive attacking at the rim and he was just playing with a lot more confidence. He's also solid both on and off the ball offensively, and he could be a legitimately good (probably not 'great') defender once he continues to get stronger. I would implore you to check out the game logs and see the trends rather than look at the season stats. The sort of production he was putting up towards the end has been second only to really LaMelo/Giddey as far as players his age go here. I do think he's going to be a semi-project in the NBA, but he's exactly what NBA teams are looking for right now, which is big multi-skilled offensive players who can pass, handle, etc. If you want to make some crude comparisons, maybe similar to Franz Wagner? Though Franz is a more polished off-ball player and more slashing oriented I would say. Also similar to PWill in the sense that they both fall into that big wing/4 ball handler archetype, though of course PWill is a much more powerful athlete, while Ousmane is taller and smoother but without that same athleticism.

I see him early-2nd round on tankathon right now.. IMO, that would be massive value for that range. I think he should be in consideration at 18.

Just based on a quick glance of tankathon's mock, and my as of now limited understanding of this draft class.. Hardy and Baldwin seem like they'd be very good gets in our range. I've spoken to some NBA people who really aren't into it with Hardy, just in terms of him being able to provide production within a 'winning NBA role', and I get that, but he's got some talent that's very hard to teach, and he improved as the Ignite season went on. Jovic is an interesting one, I think he's a 1st, but I've soured on him a little bit, particularly with his defensive shortcomings. If Daniels or Agbaji are somehow there, I'm all in, but I assume they're lottery locks more or less.

Happy to hear your takes on guys. I plan to find some time to binge all the prospects before draft time.

If Armando Bacot doesn't get drafted I'd like the Bulls to bring him in as an undrafted Free Agent. He's such a good rebounder with a real nose for the ball. Not a bad interior defender also. It will be interesting to see how he does at the combine, if he participates.

A lot is going to depend on whether or not we make any trades, and how these players look in their individual workouts. Some of them won't play at the Combine per agent recommendations. Of the players featured above Mark Williams will be gone before 18. McGowens is athletic, but I question his outside shot. He hit only 27.4% from the college "3". His Free throw percentage was OK at 83% so his shot is something that might come around. But unless we move on from Zach, Coby or Lonzo I can't see him getting much playing time for us. He's a intriguing development project though, with high potential upside if he can work to become a better shooter from deep. He does play with a lot of bounce. He can get up high and quickly. Decent handles and passing ability. He might have a better career than players likely to be drafted ahead of him like Johnny Davis, Ben Mathurin and Ochai Agbaji. Kessler is someone we have to consider with his length and elite shot blocking skills. He's not going to be the type of switchable defender that seems to be the rage in today's game. Like a lot of big men he lumbers a little. And we might be able to sign a Free Agent "5" with experience or do a sign and trade for someone like Bamba. Then use our draft pick elsewhere. I'm not a big fan of Patrick Baldwin. He put up bad numbers this year and might have a nagging ankle problem. Hard pass. I don't even think he will go in the First Round. He'd be wise to get healthy and return to school. Max Christie is a nice project as a SG. A bit thin so he'd get abused defensively at the next level until he can fill out his frame. But like with McGowens he makes no sense for us unless we move on from at least one of our guards. That leaves Liddell. Based on picking at 18 I think he's the best prospect we could hope for. First off he's solid. He comes in with an NBA body. He's experienced entering the draft as a Junior like Ayo. He's a great defender, especially on help defense. I can see a potential defensive lineup next year of Lonzo, Ayo, Caruso, Liddell and Patrick when we really need to make some stops. And Liddell shot 38% from "3" which is better than a lot of the guards getting mocked to go in the First Round. Other players might have a higher upside as a gamble, but Liddell's floor is very high. With his strength, shooting ability and abilty to guard 2-4....he's the guy I would Draft.

Bryce and Max should still be considered because they potentially could become microwave scoring options and we are a really bad bench scoring team. We really don’t have any other shot creators outside of Zach and Demar . Coby isn’t promised to be here so that leaves room also Demar could drop off at any moment . If you think those two guys can become good guards in future you should go with em. I think Bryce is gonna be a stud in the future

Really hope we keep the pick and land Liddell with the pick if he slides that far. I just feel like I see a prime Paul Millsap when I watch Liddell.

Others I like:

-Jaden Hardy from high upside pick (probably would prefer others listed below)
-Malaki Branham as a DeRozen type feel
- Jovic
- Mark Williams if he slides.
- Koloko Center from Arizona

We have to go Nikola here

Nikola Jokic
Nikola Mirotic
Nikola Vucevic
Nikola Pekovic

It's proven that any Nikola coming into the NBA will be a quality NBA player.

Liddell is abysmal at handling the ball.

Looks like a nice small ball 5 but just don't see the offensive talent needed to play the 4.

Likely a smart choice. I think he can scrap and find a spot in the NBA but staying the extra year won’t hurt him and can only help him imho. He very well could go undrafted, even though he is awesome at what he does. I’d enjoy the sr year if I was him he can go undrafted next year or maybe play his way into a solid second round selection.
