Projecting Franz Sophomore Season

Post#1 » by mattdelray1220 » Wed Apr 20, 2022 2:22 pm

I think the one thing this board agrees on is Franz Wagner. We are all very pleased with the pick and what he showed his rookie season.
15.2 pts, 4.5 reb, 2.9 ast - 79GS 79GP

I know a lot depends on the make up of the team where he ends up statistically. I am just wondering what would you be happy with next season from Franz?

Personally, if he stays healthy and replicates this season I would be thrilled. Would love him to get to the line more which would effect his PPG but adding a top pick and healthy JI (hopefully), I just can't see him or anyone on our team as a 20PPG guy.

I can see him being just shy of a 20ppg scorer, while averaging a few more assists a game maybe somewhere between 3-4 a game. He was not really our first option scoring except when we got decimated with injuries, so for him to still get 15.2 ppg when you have Cole being the main guy is impressive. I can't see why he can't hit near 20 this coming season if he doesn't have a slump in his sophomore year.

Inserting Fultz into the starting lineup and adding someone like Jabari Smith(who could space the floor) will open up many more opportunities for him. Could definitely see him averaging 18PPG

i’d be happy if he learns to drive with the left hand and finish with it too. I think that would take his game to another level.

Give him a mid-range game and he's legit

just want to him to replicate this season with sligh improvement in 3 point shoot, would be awesome.

most important thing is the team to improve around him, with more outside shooting to give him and others more space to operate, but zero faith in Weham to do that

cant make a prediction until we see what his role is in the offense next year. he did great when we had injuries and then when people came back, he seemed an afterthought in the offense and his production suffered.

Franz is going to be a very very good player. We don't really have to worry too much about setting him milestones because it's clear he's on an upward curve and that the ceiling is high for him.

All the advanced metrics love Wagner. EPM, which is widely considered to be the most or one of the most accurate, has him as the highest ranked rookie, ahead of Mobley and well ahead of Barnes and Cade. It's extremely tough for rookies to appear high on these composite rankings and Franz is almost cracking the top 100 already.

We just don't have to worry about this kid. It's all the other kids (bar WCJ) that we need to worry about.

F-Wagner was the only Magician with a positive offensive and positive defensive RAPTOR. If he builds on both, then Orlando has a future all-star here.
