happy that a guard win but not happy that a serial flopper like Smart win it.

even if you change it to a team award, Smart does not deserve it as he was not the best defender on his team. This year's DPOY award is probably one of the worst ever in NBA history. :nonono:

these type of decisions make NBA fans feel disgusted; I hope there is review of how this award was given to Smart with so many better candidates.

Not sure if you will see it since celtics switch to everything.
Smart was the closest defender to Kyrie only 3 times when kyrie was shooting the ball in game 1 .

Smart is the most hated player in the NBA, even by some Celtics fans. Certainly if there were an award for BIOY-- biggest instigator of the year-- Smart would win every season.

Auerbach would have loved him.

smart and dpoy just doesnt fit together i dont think any non celtics fan would ever put him in serious conversation for his entire career.

You just linked me to a Google sheet where 3 Boston guys did not vote for Smart for DPOY number 1. Lowe voted for Bam. Kevin O’Conner voted for Gobert. Russillo voted for Jaren Jackson Jr. Washburn and Simmons voted for Smart. Doris Burke isn’t from Boston. She’s from NY.

Boston basketball media doesn’t dominate **** honestly, and most of them get so much crap for even uttering the words Boston on their podcasts, that they generally avoid it most of the time.

Jalen Rose, Doris Burke, Taylor Rooks, Tim Bontemps (this dude hates Boston and he still voted for Smart), David Aldridge, Joe Vardon, the list goes on and on. None are Boston guys. They all had Smart number 1.

Robert Williams edges out Smart in virtually every metric defensively, on top of being taller/bigger. Smart might be the first DPOY to not even be the best defender on his team.

As a defender, does anyone really think what Smart provides is more valuable than Bridges or Bam either?

Just happy that Smart doesn’t run off the court by Maxi Kleber, if Gobert won it that would’ve been even more laughable

Or Giannis.

Giannis is a badass team defender and off the ball guy.

I get why Giannis didn't win it, but Smart would not have been my choice.
