Hello all. I watched my first game last night, New York Mets V Washington Nationals, which BTW seems to have been the lowest scoring game. I thought I knew a wee bit about baseball but by Christ I was wrong. I had no idea what was going on. I've so many questions I can't even remember them all. Thought I would join up here and start this thread for the many questions I'll have in future.
I should say I'm not American so I don't even have that generic knowledge you'd get just from growing up around sports.

It's okay, once you watch about 10 games you'll already start to have figured a lot out
the square is the "strike zone" so if the ball is inside it's usually called a strike, if it's outside it's usually called a ball
