Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES - NEW THREAD 2/21/22
The mvp, one teammate and rest of players must be from franchise's history draft.
Pick an mvp with your first pick, pick one of his teammates with any of your other seven picks and the other six players must have their chosen season when they played for the same franchise.
eg. Jokic and one of his teammates in 2021 and players from Denver Nuggets franchise history, any year.

1) The draft would consist of 6 rounds instead of 8
2) 4 of those rounds you must select individual players (like normal) while the other 2 rounds you must select pairs of players with the same last name. You may draft the individuals/pairs in any order you choose.
3) The 2 pairs must account for at least half of your team's total minute allocation, and the minute minimum is doubled to 16 for these players (it remains 8 for the other guys)
I really like the idea of deciding between, say, a Ben/Rasheed Wallace combo or Dirk Nowitzki. Reggie/Brad Miller vs D Wade. I'm just spit balling off the top of my head but there's a ton of room for unique strategizing in this format. I was thinking maybe 80s-present but I could be swayed differently.
Any interest?
I like it. Adds a twist to the pairs we did before. I wonder how many pairs of players like the Wallaces would actually go over Dirk or Giannis. My guess is not many.
This sounds interesting

The only research required is to type the player's name in BR and see if there's more than one result*.![]()
It's actually surprising how many players meet this requirement. Going post-merger we could easily accommodate double-digit teams.
*Hits for players who never actually played an NBA/ABA game wouldn't count.
I'd be interested in this one
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Something quite different than what we usually do. A draft where you also need to state the jersey number for each player, matching chosen season. You need each pick to be a higher jersey number than the previous.
Planning here is vital. I suggest making it ten players with another limit (100 fga?). Eight is easier to plan.

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES - NEW THREAD 2/21/22
Laimbeer proposed this idea a while ago: ''Players who never played in a college game in the US''.
I got 8-9 franchise guys in mind: LeBron, Kobe, Giannis, Jokic, Dirk, Moses, KG, Luka, T-Mac
Eight participants would probably be the optimal number. Lots of choices to fill out the roster including the vast majority of international players. I may give it a try once we finish our current draft.

This would be better if we went down from 100.

Pairs draft with two players from the same franchise with one pre 1990, one post 2010, one MVP per pair.

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES - NEW THREAD 2/21/22
How about something like this:
We gotta draft
- at least one player from the 2020s
- at least one player from the 10s
- at least one player from the 00s
- at least one player from the 90s
- at least one player from the 80s
- at least one player from the 50s through the 70s
for a total of 8 players.
It requires minimal research, if any. It's super easy to come up with a top 12ish list from the 50s-60s-70s. Off the top of my head: Kareem, Wilt, Russell, Oscar, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Havlicek, Bill Walton, Dr J, Elvin Hayes, Walt Frazier, George Gervin, Rick Barry, Pistol Pete, you name it.

I feel like a stipulation needs to be added to it somehow though, but I do indeed like it a lot.

What stipulation do you have in mind? Here's an idea:
We split the teams into two groups: Eastern Conference vs Western Conference. Eastern teams can draft only eastern conference players. Western teams can draft only western conference players. For instance, eastern teams cannot select Magic, Duncan, Kobe, Steph, Dirk etc. They may select KD, but they have access only to his Brooklyn seasons. Likewise, western teams cannot select MJ, Bird, KG, D-Wade, etc. They may select LeBron, but they have access only to his Lakers seasons.

Re: FUTURE DRAFT GAMES - NEW THREAD 2/21/22
Would a team draft work with stipulations?
Something like
Round 1:
Centers from the 60s
Round 2
Point guards from the 90s
etc, etc,
But have it all be completely random as to what decade/position you are chosing per round. And you only find out after the end of a round what the next round is.
You might end up drafting a chicago bull Shooting Guard that played in 1970 (missing Jordan) or a LA LAker point guard who played in the 2010s (missing Magic)

Draft by team.
Every round you are assigned 2 teams.
You get to draft any player from any era that has played on 1 of those 2 teams.
