Actually agree with you here - but the other dude said only MJ/Kobe...

He forgot Dirk's patented fadeaway...

Jokic literally has one named after him too (Sombor Shuffle) - Stepback, fadeaway

Hey! Thanks for the Jokic link IN A THREAD ABOUT JOEL EMBIID.

Perfectly on brand. Well done!

Hey champ! How should I have responded to his claim that no other big men can do it? Just say "Yes they can" and leave it at that? Or should I provide a few examples (Dirk - retired, Jokic - active)? Or should I simply support his false claim?

It's like me saying "Jokic averaged more PPG than any other Center this year" in a thread about Jokic, and then getting mad when someone corrects me

Let me know and I'll make sure to do it so you don't get so you don't get upset!

I am sorry - I must have missed the Dirk video...or the MJ video...or the Kobe video. People who suggested those guys didn't feel the need to insert a video - did they?

Nah. Didn't think so.

What a ridiculous performance man. Like other said, that midrange turnaround fade he took to put them up 1 was equally as impressive. The guy just put the team on his back and carried Philly to the W without Harden in OT nonetheless.

What hasn't been mentioned in this thread was how he completely neutralized Pascal in the 2nd half and OT. I am not one for ragging on one of our own guys, but damn 0/5 (0/1 3pt) 1reb 2ast 1foul after the first half is just downright embarrassing.

They're welcome to include videos as well - you can see earlier eyetoma was already moving the goalposts with what his definition was (First it was fadeaway, then it was fadeaway with two feet, squared to basket, then it was over tall players). So I posted a video example of Jokic doing it because I've seen this whole video.

You're more than welcome to post videos of other people, I'm sure there are hundreds out there - this is the one I chose to post because I've seen this full video and know the point it illustrates.

Gotta give credit to Doc Rivers as well, he sprinted to the Raptors bench to get a timeout because Embiid didn't have the situational awareness on the previous play to call timeout, instead he was going to hoist a 45 foot 1-handed shot after losing control of the ball. Kudos to Doc (who many Philly fans like to rag on) for having the presence of mind. If he doesn't call timeout, Raptors get ball with a few seconds left, tie game, and 2 timeouts.

Inb4 I'm branded a hater for pointing out what actually happened, because you know, F*** facts! :)

Lol me describing to you the difference between these players fade aways to you is me moving the goal post? Just stop. Joel has a MJ/Kobe like fadeaway, the mj fade away is probably the most popular so for a 7 footer to mimic one of the GOATS Shots and do it on the biggest stage is hella impressive. That is all.

These guys are like musicians. They watch what others do and then incorporate it into their game. Generally, I think Embiid's standard one-legged turn-around is more Dirk Diggler, but with last night's shot the speed of the turn and release was more Kobe, IMO.

The last two seasons he has been pulling off mj/Kobe like moves and it won him a scoring title. I think he does have the dirk one legger in his game but to me recently the way he scores has been very reminiscent of mj and Kobe.

Joel has been taking the same shot from that side of the court a ton, the last one or two months, when the clock runs out and he has mastered it in some stupid way.

It's just like the logo shot Lillard does, just totally random stuff, that on normal circunstances is a bad shot and those guys has mastered.

In fact he tried the same shot 3 times on that game and was 2/3:

- One he did late on the fourth and hit over a raptor defender.
- The end of regulation shot he failed
- The one that ended the game

Pretty sure Duncan had one against Phoenix in the first round. I’d be surprised if Dirk doesn’t have one too. This feels like one of those extremely cherry picked things.
