The Knicks might use trade capitol to move “up” in the draft to get someone. Lee constantly are aware they have little chance at guys like Mathurin, or Ivey…. But the Knicks have the assets to package for a deal. Maybe they could move up to 6 or 7 in this draft if someone they like is there.
Fun stats from the last 20 years:
• Years RealGM poster predicted Knicks trading into top of draft: 20/20 (100%)
• Years Knicks traded up: 0/20 (O%)
To be fair I didn’t say the top I said 4 spots up at most.
Pretty sure that doesn’t change a thing about my fun facts.
Trading into the top 7 would interfere with the Knicks tried and true strategy of relying on the Alec Burks, Derrick Roses, Kemba Walkers, Nerlens Noels and Evan Fourniers of the past 20 years.
History says if they’re gonna trade, they trade out or trade down. This feels like a “trade out” kinda year to me.
History also says many on this board will disagree and predict trade ups to grab their favorite prospect. Typically 500 pages of draft chatter leading into the Knicks punting draft night. Truly a testament to the human spirit of irrational optimism.
