If it wasn’t for one pick in 2013 this would be the greatest stretch of all time.

He's obviously no Giannis but Olynyk will end having played a decade plus in the league and making 100 millions. He's also the owner of one of the most memorable fourth quarters in Celtics history.

The vast majority of late lottery picks wished they had Olynyk's career. Let's not get it twisted.

All the more impressive because a lot of these drafts were weak and the picks around the guys we got weren't really that good, and Ainge got heavily criticized for all of those picks except Rob.

If we're really going "all in", then Terrence Ross could be a good trade target in the offseason:

I would rather TPE trade for Josh Richardson back personally.

Josh gives you depth at PG/SG/SF with shooting and defense and playmaking.

Ross shot 39% from the field and 29% from three this season. He provides nothing besides shooting and even that has been iffy for years. He is also in his thirties so I'm guessing he is a minimum guy going forward. The TPE should be able to fetch a better player. It'd be nice to not have him kill us three times a year though.

Dallas for instance is over the tax line for next year before paying Brunson. I'm not sure they want to be 25 millions over the line so they might look to dump a player into someone's cap space/TPEs. They'd probably prefer to dump that player for "free" to Boston than pay a couple second rounders to OKC. It looks like Utah's about ready to blow up their core. Indiana's entering a rebuild. Who knows what the Kings or Knicks are going to do. Like every summer, a couple stars are probably going to force their way off their current teams triggering a couple rebuilds. A decent, slightly overpaid rotation player will be available. Considering who's at the top of the 2023 draft, I can see a few teams going for really epic tank jobs and having a fire sale on all their veterans.

ya Romeo was really the only useless pick ...but we made up for it later in that same draft

kelly has has a solid career (for where he was taken) and I wouldn't mind having him back here at all

I agree overall that we've drafted really well. But the other 4 picks in the 2016 draft were useless as well.

I was really feeling Ross a couple of years ago but not now ...if he makes it through the 1st few waves of FA, I wouldn't mind adding him real cheap, maybe he has a bit of a resurgence in a smaller role

Yabusele's tenure with the Celtics was bad, I'm not going to argue otherwise. But let's be fair, he can actually ball a little. He was part of the closing lineup that had an historic upset of team USA in the group stage of the last Olympics. Started the final and dropped 13 points (and since that game was a defensive battle he ended up as like the 4th highest scorer in that game). In Euroleague, he's averaging more points and more minutes than anybody on Real Madrid's roster (on 55/40/89 shooting splits).

He's been making threes on pretty decent volume at 40%+ for years in Europe. So it's entirely possible that his struggles from three in Boston were down to sporadic minutes and lack of game opportunities to adjust to the longer line. Had he gone to a team where he would have had more rope to work through his mistakes instead of being buried behind Horford, Tatum, Morris, Baynes, Theis, Timelord, etc. he'd probably still be hanging around in the league.

Is playoff Al back?

Team is:

+14 in on court minutes.
-19 off court.

+33 Net rating against Nets in just 2 games!

All this talk about draft picks has me thinking. a freakin Coin Flip loss cost us T Herro. Just thinking about how he would be with Tatum-Brown-Smart-RW is so tantalizing. Oh well.

** Meanwhile a side note. In all my experiences with coin flips I can remember. ALWAYS CALL HEADS!!!! Perhaps Ainge worst move was calling tails :o :-?

Just wanted to add:

Team defensive rating with Al on court: 105
Team defensive rating with Al off court: 133

Did Bruce Brown poke the skunk or what?
