People trying to dismiss the foul as being ejection worthy is solid entertainment. That’s an easy call all day. And no it’s not “BECUASE THE NBA SOFFF”... it’s because it was a malicious and dirty blindside play. And I tend to think the NBA is soft these days.

10 years ago that’s just a technical foul.
Give me a break.
A hard shove?
If the NBA gets any softer they’ll have to start wearing knee pads.
This was 9 years ago and it was an ejection.
And that was completely after the play and totally different from Hayes’ play, so not sure what your point is?
Buddy, it was a flag 2. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Ayton was a big reason Phoenix made the Finals.
He had a terrible game last night, no one here is denying that - but the overreaction takes on Ayton today are unbelievable.
28 points on 13/20 shooting, 17 rebounds, 1/1 from 3, 3 steals, team best +18.
Telling yall man... Playoff DA is special.

That's not even everything.
Torey Craig 0-2
Cam Johnson 4-13 (normally 43% and best shooter)
Even Bridges is only 2-7, which is not very good either.

it is a miracle that the suns are up 2-1 while playing comparably bad to the RS. especially role players. ayton and Paul reached their standards and better, bridges was ok. the rest awful.
while players on the pels played way above their recent level respect to the rookies, David Griffin, coach Green.
they don't need Zion.
I would trade him for a good instant package and they could be contenders anytime soon.

That's your opinion.
It could easily be called a Flagrant 1, as well. Part of the bad optics are because Crowder exaggerates the contact, as usual.
The difference between a Flagrant 1 and Flagrant 2 is basically a subjective judgement call by the official.
Here's Crowder getting massacred by 5'11", 175 lb Alvarado:
Watch the Hayes' shove starting at the 11 second mark of this video:

Do you really think we can't find hundreds of examples of Flagrant 1's that are equal or worse to this?
Here's the same player earlier in the season. This is clearly intentional as well. Why is it not Flagrant 2 but the one last night is?:

It's called good coaching and it speaks more about how good the Suns are that they can have gut out wins like these despite bad play from supporting players.

It's funny how everyone is trying to excuse the foul instead of blaming Hayes. Maybe don't be stupid and put yourself in that position.

"It should have been" isn't exactly an explanation. Why should it have been?
This just illustrates the difference between a Flagrant 1 and a Flagrant 2 is the emotion of the moment and the subjective decision of the Ref.
None of you have actually defined any clear objective standards for the difference between a Flagrant 1 and 2.

No shame for Pelicans. Then just being here is beating everyone’s expectations
The fact they are going toe to toe with the number 1 seed(albeit missing Booker) is impressive.
BI is legit, I honestly think he’s the closer the Pels need. He just didn’t get enough shots, guy was making contested shot after contested in the 4th

The explanation is in the rule. "Excessive and unnecessary". All of the examples provided in this thread have met that criteria. As I said here before, blame Hayes for putting himself in that situation and even giving the refs the option to call it that way. Any other excuse is just plain embarrassing. I get that as a Lakers fan you're not the biggest Suns supporter but the only one to blame here is Hayes. That simple.

My supporting evidence is the video that’s already been shown. Do you need me to do a break down of each second?
And yes, that should’ve been a flagrant 2.
Again, stop embarrassing yourself.

Probably because the NBA rules define the difference being "excessive". If you can't tell that what's Hayes did was not basketball, not a normal play and that it was excessive then I don't know what what to tell you.
Your argument that it isn't a flagrant 2 because your lakers didn't get a flagrant 2 is irrelevant. But you can see arms extend on crowder but doesn't appear to be on lebron.
If you are simply arguing that the NBA should be played like the 90s well that's a different discussion. This was pretty clearly a FF2 by today's NBA rules
