Will we ever see a 3-0 comeback in the NBA playoffs?

Post#1 » by Cubbies2120 » Sun Apr 24, 2022 1:30 am

It's so hard to believe that in the NBA, a superstar reliant sport, a 3-0 lead has never been blown before.

Even by sheer luck, ex. a superstar reliant team losing their superstar to injury, it still has not occurred.

I'm gonna go ahead and pencil in the Warriors/Sixers/Celtics into the 2nd round.

Of course. If the Cavs can come back from 3-1 and beat the greatest regular season team of all time, in the finals with the weight of an entire city on your shoulders no less, then this can definitely be done.

We likely will if the NBA is still around for a few hundred years. There will eventually be a series where a team goes up 3-0 and then gets hit with a devastating injury to their star player.

It would take major injuries like the GS series against Toronto where Klay, KD tore their legs.

It could happen, in a scenario where lets say a player like a prime Lebron is injured for the first three cames, and comes back with his team being down 3-0. Then they come back and win it all. Still very tough but it could happen.

Nope, Never, Not Happening - Thank The Playoffs

Post#9 » by Wammy Giveaway » Sun Apr 24, 2022 2:26 am

I asked this question a couple times on this board, and in my opinion we're never going to see it. The playoffs was designed in such a way that the Finals would always be represented by only the top seeds, usually 1st through 3rd. They know that a 3-0 lead is a death sentence. Opponents will get what I'd like to call "the free game," where the leading team would allow the opponent to win Game 4 just so they could feel like they accomplished something, but once Game 5 hits, it's serious time.

I'm booking this: we are now at 146-0 in teams going up 3-0.

If Embiid, Tatum or Curry goes down I think it can happen. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

You can parlay Sixers Celtics Warriors all to advance at -2000.

If you bet $2000 you win $100

Free money right?

With the help of a Bogut injury and a Green suspension :)

Yes, we've seen numerous 3-1 comebacks. A 3-0 comeback is just a 3-1 comeback where the winning team wins game 4 instead of game 1, 2, or (usually) 3.

I can guess to which series you're talking about.

the answer is no.
