Curry with a ring/fmvp this year lands him where?
Considering he puts up his usual playoff numbers with a good/strong finals.

Re: Curry with a ring/fmvp this year lands him where?
probably same place where i already have him, borderline top 10 player
it would definetely help his top 10 case tho depending on how they win
if the warriors win with a mediocre offense (thinl neutral ish) and a great defense i still would have similar doubts around curry than before (how well does he work as the only offensive superstar)

Top 20. His post 2015 rings should be weighted just like KD's.
He also has been injured a ton the entire 2010s.

He was 1 win away from repeating as the only offensive superstar... Or do you consider Klay a superstar as well?

It makes him a lock for top 15 and gives him an argument for top 10

I’ll just say top 20 to be safe. It depends how well he plays, and needs to not miss half a series. I have Dirk around 15 or 16, and i doubt he moves ahead of Dirk.

Bird and Magic are usually guys who are in the 8-10 range, maybe Hakeem but I have him a bit higher. Do you think Curry’s peaks is as good or better? Because if you don’t i’d find it hard to justify top 10.

not at all, if anythingh i am somewhat low on klay
you mention winning 2016, if curry won in 2016 while having exactly the same struggles as real life 2016 curry or real life 2015 curry? yes i would have doubts about him
hence my comment about "winninh with a quality offense" warriors offense was not great in niether 2015 or 2016 playoffs
curry winning in 2016 wouldnt change the criticisms for his play those finals, anymore than knicks winning in 94 would change the fact ewing offense kind of got exposed by hakeem locking down below 40 %ts
let me compare with another guy who is often in the bottom part of top 10's lists (hence the kind of guy curry would need to beat to make the top 10) magic johnson
both are decent defenders but dont have much of its value from it but from being offense all timers and both have weaker longevity than most inthe top 10
the playoffs offense of the late 80's and early 90's lakers were better and less stiffled than warriors playoffs offenses in 15/16 pre durant or 21-22 post durant regular season offenses
magic didnt have another offensive superstar either (wortht was good tho, maybe better thsn klay but not a superstar) but the results as lone offensive superstar were better than curry
that is the kind of guy curry would be competing to make top 10 for me, that is why i want to see him take warriors offense to comparable results to late/peak magic without a big talent advantage (durant years)

both are decent defenders but dont have much of its value from it but from being offense all timers and both have weaker longevity than most in the top 10 so i mostly separate them by offensove results as lone superstars (as both thrived in stacked teams with another offensive scoring superstar in kareem/durant)

but i have seen doctor mj point that curry never got the chance to prove himself post 2016 cause durant which is farily reasonable
so is possible that all this time (durant years, 2021) he was able to become a magic level playoffs performer but couldnt prove it (the toronto series is very positive signal he hsd became a more resilient performer but small sample)
is possible that curry has been thst guy all this time after 2016 and if dursnt had not joined he would have led warriors to great offenses in the playoffs without him
if curry dominates offensively and takes warriors offense to great heights with a good but not "unfair" offensive cast that would go a long way to convince me he has been that guy since way before (lets say 2017)
if warriors and curry are fantastic offensively in 2022 in their first post durant playoffs i may start to think he didnt need durant to thrive in the playoffs after 2016

Another three years at current level he might be top 20.

Would probably get in my top 15 assuming he plays well enough to make it back into discussion for best player in the league, which is what it would likely take for the Warriors to win the title.
At that point you're looking at 9 relevant seasons and he'd be a top 3-5 player for 7 of them, which is coming up on the level of someone like Jerry West, whom I have 13.

The difference is Curry was the best player on those teams and the reason they had that baseline level of dominance in the first place. Durant was a cherry on the top, a glorified complimentary player (probably a bit harsh but you get the point).

Are you applying this logic to any super team ring then? Or is it just for players you dont like?

he is applying relative to the talent of the teams
there has never been anythingh like 2017-2019 warriors

What about the Miami Heatles? Seems like drawing an arbitrary line exactly where it suits the case...thats why i asked wether we apply the same metric to every ring earned on superteams or just for disliked players, while finding excuses for the rest

I don’t think there’s anything arbitrary about the absurdity of the KD Warriors lol

miami heat didnt have as much overall talent as those warriors, at all
all championships have talent, those warriors are a tier on their own, is not arbitrary
is still always meritory to win a ring, just less so in probably the most talented team of all time
