I came here to troll a few months back, now I come in peace. I admit I was wrong Minny deserves all the respect. Im rooting for Minny over Memphis this one, you guys can definitely do it. Would have been up 3-1 this series already. I believe Minny exceed a lot of peoples expectations already. Looking forward to see this young team grow.

Thanks for the nice thoughts, but I'm not into moral victories. We need to win this series not just put up a good fight.

Yes, seeing Minny could have easily been up 3-1, they have a good chance of upsetting the Grizzles. Rooting for them to win this series.

Dubs fan also.
I would say putting up a good fight is more than a moral victory. Your young guys are gaining a ton of confidence and valuable experience which will be critical in the coming years whether y'all pull out this series or not.

I like to see your team doing well. After the disappointing years the present and future is looking bright in Minnesota.

Edit: If you do pull it out, I don't anticipate rooting for y'all in the next series, so I'm short time Wolves fan. My son OTOH likes the Wolves due to your name and logo. So there is a full time Wolves fan in the house until I am able to convert him to being a Warriors fan.

Right now I don't give a rat's ass about doing good in future years. I want to do well right now.

Guys, I have a question. MIN needs a PoA defender badly, what do you think about Gary Payton next contract? How much are you willing to pay him? Will you re-sign him? He has been a very nice story for GSW, a prove of excellent scouting and player development programm, but with recent Poole explosion I feel like his next contract might be too pricey to keep.

Can you give me an insight about his situation and future in GSW?

I cant speak for all the Dubs fans, but I like him a lot. With Poole emergence, Im not sure how Warriors will be able to sign him for anything more than mid level exception. I think hes worth something like 3yrs/ 18 mils. He thrive with the Warriors system, but hes a 29yo journeyman for a reason.

Thank you for input! What kind of help he can provide in offense? I saw some highlights of him with impressive alley oops, backdoor cuts, from what I saw he is kind of big man in guard body, most of his points comes from hustle and team ball movement. But can he pass or dribble or shoot open 3s?

We used him as a point center but he doesn’t handle the ball much since we have Curry, Draymond and Poole. Hes good as an energy guy who can dunk/ catch lob, and from what I see, hes pretty consistent at shooting open 3s., Hes great for playing around 10-15 minutes a night.

I would describe GP2 as a 6'3" stretch 3/4/5 with elite man defense.

Defensively... elite man defense. Can be a pest. Crashes the boards. Strong weakside shot blocker. Will battle with bigger players... though that is not the best use of his abilities defensively (he's best on a guard).

My guess is that he only caught on with us because we don't need him to handle the ball at all... cause I just don't think that's part of his game. Steph's gravity and Draymond's unique ball handling contribute to not needing to use him as an initiator of the offense or even a reliable ball handler.

What can he do offensively?
He can cut off ball and finish strong.
He can make a wide open 3 if he doesn't look down.
and... hmm... get some offensive rebounds. (Notice nothing about handling the ball, initiating an offense, or creating off the dribble).

If you need him to play point guard or SG offensively at all... probably will not be your cup of tea. But for teams with more of a point forward on their club, he could be a good fit.

Money wise: Worth to the Warriors full MLE. He's a great fit for us and we really need his defense. But we are limited in what we can offer. I don't know the exception, but if memory serves what we can offer is closer to the Tax Payers MLE - but not using the TPMLE. He's been with us for 2 years on minimum deals. I think that would be non-bird rights? One of your capologists can probably easily figure out what the Warriors options would be. My guess is that we would give him as much as we can offer.

Worth to other teams? No idea. I mean he's jumped around the league and I find it hard to believe he all of a sudden got so much better. I think he's just a good fit with us. That said, he's never had any kind of stability in his career, so I would guess as much as he may like GSW and be a good fit there... he's going to go with the largest guaranteed money wherever that may be.

Yeah, but Okogie is 6yrs younger. I like Josh, but I am not sure whether he will accept min contract.

Some other team will offer him more than that. Even if he can never shoot, a team will use him off the bench to neutralize the other team’s best scorer, 1-3. I imagine he gets a two year deal at $3.5 each year.

In fact, it took a unique set of circumstances here in MIN to push Okogie out of our rotation. MIN is limited in available minutes, with DLo, Bev, Ant and Beasley all in our top 6-7 players. MIN also uses the longer McDaniels, Bev, and sometimes even Vando, to act as the point of attack defender. And on top of this, Vando’s play keeps him on the court, and teams can’t play two non-shooters. This has been a really tough situation for Okogie, and I was happy after Game 4 to hear Ant give him credit as an incredible teammate. That has to be very hard for a “non-stop” Okogie to be stopped by the coach, riding the bench and never getting on the court at all.

Yes, Vando and Okogie can't coexist on the floor. But even without Vando on the floor, Okogie is not on the same level of lob catching / dunking, as Gary Payton. Josh could be a much better player even without shooting, if he could dribble, pass, or slash.

He can do those things. The issue is the shooting.

Even at Payton's numbers, it's good enough that it has to be accounted for with him. With Okogie nobody cares even if he's wide open so even if he cuts...he's just running into his defender camped in the paint.

In all honesty if Josh had even an average 3pt shot he'd be in the rotation right now helping us win games. It's literally the only thing holding him back from being one of the better role players in the entire league. But it's the same issue he's had his entire career at this stage so I just can't believe he's going to change any more.

I’m not comparing him to Mitten. I’m saying that we aren’t keeping Okogie on a vet min contract.

Gp2 is a fan favorite. He is definitely an impact player for hs and just helped close out the Nuggets. I really hope the Warriors can sign him again, but if not, he deserves to get paid elsewhere.
Also hope the Wolves can take Grizzlies to game 7, all these playoff games so far are enjoyable as heck.
