I usually hate media narratives about players being soft or mentally weak, but Simmons is the rare guy where I think it actually is appropriate to describe him in that manner. All the talent in the world but the guy is a loser.

It's the right decision. Lol @ anyone who thought he could make a meaningful difference in this series after not playing for nearly a year.

So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Didn’t they say he was walking around practice like he’s Jordan and his confidence was sky high and everything too?

Never would I have imagined his career playing out this way, and it seems the best (worst) is yet to come.

To be fair, his talent was and is ridiculous, and while there were rumors about him having suspect attitude, no one could have predicted him being THIS bad when it comes to attitude and work ethic.

He really got lucky in that he got traded to the perfect organization in the Nets who are willing to go above and beyond to empower and accommodate their stars(Kyrie). Simmons/Paul probably make a huge stink if he gets sent to any other organization not named the Lakers/Knicks.

Pretty much every GM makes the same pick at the time. The #1 pick in that draft was cursed.

In that same time span, much less gifted players that were drafted like Ingram, Brown, Murray and Siakam have already surpassed him.

I bet he read those tweets about him potentially being the first player in NBA history to play back-back elimination games and called it off.

Sean Marks must be done with the diva attitudes this season.

Just a terrible situation all around. I Was looking forward to seeing him play and hoping he could get some of this stink off of him. unfortunately, it looks like another summer at a minimum of him getting roasted. Hard to see.

Haha this dude is just soft. Wouldn't want him anywhere near my team.

Nets gifted a chance to Philly to win a ring for this crap. I hope the Sixers countersue Simmons and take more money from him somehow.

He truly is a pathetic dude. Sitting out a year in his prime with fake injuries. I get it for some players it just is a job and that's fine but you can tell this dude doesn't like his job at all. Just wants the money and no-show.

He doesn't deserve to earn a single dollar of his contract for this season at this point. Absolutely ridiculous this guy...

Durant & Irving are out there playing 45mpg while getting rag dolled by the Celtics defense and Simmons won’t even put his uniform on.

What a situation out there in Brooklyn.

Not to defend him or anything, but a lot of inactivity, sitting, and poor postural awareness can cause a lot of distress on the low back. I had a bulging disc in my low back in my early 20's just from horrible sitting habits. These guys are used to being active on the court and moving around...so Ben chilling on the couch with bad posture for like 8 months probably wasn't doing him any favours. Still his fault of course, but I doubt he's exaggerating his issues to a significant degree in this case.

I hope he doesn't get that 20M grievance from Phili, but wishing he gets back on the court at some point in the near future.
