I think this shows that when evaluating players character is extremely important. A big reason Boston passed on Fultz. The Simmons, Zions, ect…got so much hype and we trashed teams for not being able to land these guys….

Didn't he bail on LSU aswell? Then Philly, now out for a crucial game.
I'll give him benefit of the doubt as the franchise might not want to risk him if he's not 100%.
But seems like he doesn't necessarily love basketball as much as the great ones do.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

According to Woj he's been pain free for 10 days as he ramped up his activity in anticipation of playing...
Then, 24 hours before he was set to play, he got "back soreness" and decided he couldn't do it

Can't be too surprised after he spent so much energy auditioning for Doug the other day

Team should be pretty decent next year. Too much to overcome this season with the trade and Irving being out for so long. Durant looks gassed.

They weren't winning the series with him, but this player does not care about basketball. It's pretty obvious.

I hope he loses the grievance because this POS deserves it.

Could happen. Indeed, it probably will.

But the last time Kyrie was a reliable contributor during both the regular and post seasons, he was a Cavalier.

Simmons has already missed two entire NBA seasons. (The RoTY jokes are based on him missing his first one.)

Durant is still an elite player, but he seems to be slowing down a little.

The older ring chasers are all inconsistent at best.

Gotta respect Simmons for not wanting to play hero.

Imagine he comes back and they win 4 straight? He'd unfairly get all the credit.

Very unselfish.

He's definitely someone that treats the sport like a day job and personally I don't see anything wrong with it.
You get a year off with pay from your day job?

There are a tonne of people in this world who have achieved gluttonous wealth for a lot less effort than Ben Simmons has put in, or in other circumstances through the practices of extremely unethical acts. I'm not pocket watching, nor am I outraged because what he's doing is rather harmless to anyone besides the longevity of his own NBA career.

I'm sad that his time in Philadelphia ended the way it did, but hey, it's his life.

Even if he wins the settlement, a lot of that money will go to pay his camp who probably are the reason why he's trying to recover the money in the first place.

I agree however that i don't see him getting another big contract in the league and even retiring after this contract ends.... if he's one of the reasons why the bargain negotiations go bad for the players, i don't see him being able to stay in too many locker rooms

I know it won't happen, but I really hope the Nets start fining him until he plays like the Sixers.

This guy is giving huge ammo to the owners about guaranteed contracts and mental illness claims. He simply doesn't want to play and just wants his NBA money.

If I've learned anything this season its how important coaching is.

What is the difference between the Celtics last year and this year?

Almost all coaching.

Nash was a horrible coach. People never realized how bad because there were so many excuses for how bad the team was.

But the team always looked clueless.

If there is a fix its a new coach. Will it work?

Not sure.

I agree with what Barkley said about this. It was dumb to bring him back, so the news isn't surprising.

I'm still curious to see if he attempts any outside shots once he's back.

What this means in the overall picture is that teams need to start doing a better job in assessing potential players mental makeup when drafting, or making trades. There are a bevy of players who have all the talent in the world, but for attitude, and personality issues, can never put it altogether.

I would much rather have a less talented player who will play every game, and bust his ass, then a really talented player who doesn't want to play for your team, is a diva, soft, complains, shrinks in the big moments.

Stop trading for, or drafting these types of players.
