Not BPA, BCP. We should be drafting the player that has the highest ceiling. If you want BPA, then that would be drafting the best ready now player who can contribute as a role player which is what Gar/Pax did all those years and it didn't work.

that's not what garpax did all those years. most years they did, and it usually succeeded. some they went with the higher ceiling and it failed. they went with the highest ceiling in tyrus over more "ready now" in aldridge and that backfired. also, teague was a project when they were in "win now" mode and that failed. alternately, they famously went with "ready now" in mcdermott and that failed

hinrich, gordon, duhon, noah, taj - all drafted to contribute immediately, none with particularly high ceilings

GarPax were good for the most part in drafting safe picks but failed miserably when it came to finding the high potential guy. Biggest misses that come to mind are the Tyrus over Aldridge decision and when they moved up to draft McDermott. They could have taken LaVine with that pick and both guys that Denver took in Harris and Nurkic were better picks than McDermott. That had to be GarPax’s worst draft day decision of their tenure.

obviously those were both significant misses. the superstar potential guy was tyrus, though. and taking lavine made no sense given that they were in "win now" mode and he was a project. i would have preferred sticking w/ nurkic and harris at the time

Glad our failure to tank that last game vs minny didn't cost us a spot.

Would anyone be interested in trading back with Memphis for picks 22 and 29?

Target players like Kennedy, W. Moore, C. Koloko, Hardy, O. Dieng and Jović?

There is a reason why Hardy has fallen so far. If he had any potential in him he wouldn’t have slid this far in his draft projection. That’s a big red flag.

talented players fall all the time and found anywhere

There are a lot of guys that get hyped up and then get exposed when they play stronger competition. Emoni Bates is another example. Any hope that people see in Hardy is based purely on his high school hype. I think he didn’t even play his senior year so basically it is based on high school competition that happened almost 3 years ago. If he didn’t have that hype based on his G League play he wouldn’t even be discussed at all. For the Bulls to take him at 18, 17 other teams would have to pass on him. I’m not even sure he is projected in the first round at this point. If the Bulls want him that bad then they can buy a second round pick and not waste a mid first on a guy that will be there later in the draft.

I don't think you and I watch for the same things in evaluating players. I just want you to hold this thought. It'll be fun to revisit in the future.

Trading down to pickup another pick is always the better route unless you're in the lottery and have a Top 5 pick in a draft that there is a clear talent gap in separation from the top to later in the draft like we saw in the last draft. Drafting is hard to do so if you can get an extra pick then you practically double your chances at finding a gem.

My point is if Hardy is the guy the Bulls want they don’t have to burn the #18 pick to get him. They can trade down and get additional assets. I’ll admit the only time I’ve really seen Hardy play was in the Rising Stars game and he didn’t look very good there. His draft stock has really dropped so there has to be a reason for that but yes at one time he was an elite high school prospect. Will be interesting to see how things look in a few years.

I’m intrigued by Sochan as a Scottie Barnes Draymond type. Winning player. Makes plays on both ends. Plays with energy and an edge. His athleticism and length pops.

Sochan, Eason, Leonard Miller, Baldwin < I feel like this is the archetype for us to be targeting.

Exactly. Eason is the best fit due to energy and aggression but Sochan may even be better. Don’t think either lasts to 18. Don’t know Leonard.

ESPN has Eason falling to us in today’s mock.

Their lips to god’s ears.

I thinnk he will be top 7 once workouts start. He will destory Keegan Murray in a one v one environment. He just so intense and aggressive.

My preferred 3 at 18 are Eason, Sochan, and Moore in that order. If they are all gone you trade back and take Kris Murray or Jabari Walker.

Moore sucked real bad at Duke for most of his career. Going to pass there.

Three other prospects I hope the Bulls keep an eye on, all three are great shooters with decent size and should be 2nd round picks..

Nate Laszewski - 6'10 and shot 45.6% last year
Kaiden Rice - 6'7 and 37% on great volume
Hyunjung Lee - 6'7 and 44% last year.

Not draft related but, I know that the Bulls signed Vrenz Bleijenbergh and really hadn't heard anything from him and how he did with the Windy City Bulls. He was a 6'10" guy with handles that I was intrigued with last year with a 2nd round pick, but he wasn't drafted mainly due to contract reasons.

He played 13 minutes across three games. Attempted two shots.

Maybe his playing time was limited because he was a late season add? I don’t know the politics of these things in the g league.
