The biggest gripe I had yesterday was this one being missed. I can't tell if it was in part a flop or if it was a full-on push (if it was the latter, then it's a flagrant 2). But the fact a call wasn't made on this one, with the ref staring at them, was odd

I’ll really like to know what happened here. CP3 and Herb were going at it, Herb seems like he asked the ref if Chris Paul was allowed to shove him like that? Then he went and shoved him back too.

And oh by the way, that was a classic Chris Paul flop. Good no call.

I did watch the game. It was more or less fairly called.

Sure you did. With your eyes closed, maybe.

Any thoughts on why the refs would call this unfairly?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Convenient (not sure who clipped this). Whoever clipped this made sure to take out when Paul lowered his shoulder into Herb which lead to this retaliation. Ref allowed Herb to retaliate which I was shocked at, he watches as Paul gets away with an obvious foul, then watches as Herb retaliated. I guess the ref determined the situation a wash

Honestly? Without stopping at Costco first to acquire enough tin foil to make a particularly stylish hat and suit? Not really. It would seem as though there's an agenda of sorts with relation to the Suns, especially now with Chris Paul. But, alas, that's a touch on the conspiratorial side though Scott Foster's record against him IS a real thing.

This really doesn't make any sense. The calls have been wildly inconsistent or completely non existent even when they happen right in front of an official. That said, this isn't the only series where calls have been questionable for the unbalanced nature of them or by volume. I don't know if I have ever seen a defending conference champion and number one overall seed disrespected so much by the officials. It's crazy.

No it’s not. Chris Paul didn’t fall in the direction of the shove. That’s how you know it’s a flop

I remember this clearly. Paul literally did the same thing to Jones 2 seconds before and it wasn’t called …

But I agree - the fact the ref watched both of them do it to each other and not do anything was crazy.

This clear flop by Jae Crowder was called an offensive foul on BI. I wish the Suns would play a clean game, they won’t have any chance in this series. The Pelicans are that good!

We see things like this happen all the time. A player commits a foul that's missed, but the retaliation is what's called.
The problem is, the refs are setting a precedence here saying it's OK to commit dangerous contact and they won't call a foul, while ticky tack fouls at other points are blown before they happen.

The issue is, earlier in the season, they let players get away with a ton of contact. Basically streetball level physicality. And it was great. Play on.
As the season went on, they slowly reverted to calling touch fouls again. Maybe it's something that will take a long time to get used to over a few seasons but it's a tale of 2 seasons this year as far as the refs go.

The league prefers longer series, that's been the case for decades. When a team is down 2:1 in a series, it gets a friendly whistle most of the time.

You know why the NBA would never allow a coaches challenge until they get a call wrong ?

They will lose all control on games.

Flop to exaggerate the contact or not, that was a full on body check.
Terrible no call. The ref should be embarrassed.
And missing a call on CP3 seconds prior doesn't change anything for me. Just means the ref missed two obvious calls, which is even worse.
Absolutely disgraceful to let this go and then call some of the softest touch fouls you'll see in the same game :nonono:

I can't believe the refs called this one.
Crowder has been baiting the refs all series. The refs should've been prepared to ignore his flopping.
Psychotic. It didn’t make sense. I don’t know how you make it make sense

Reffing has been a joke all series long. Like the flagrant 2 that was almost not called until Crowder drew attention to it and ended up getting a technical foul himself.

Ref is standing 5 feet away from Hayes and Crowder and doesn't blow the whistle as there is nothing to see here obviously.

Yup. That ref wasn't gonna do anything till Crowder goes over there and almost tears Hayes head off. Then they had to review it.

Why do you think a 42-15 FTA advantage is fair when 1 of the teams has twice as many points in the paint?

the league needs to start suspending players and coaches for whining about the refs. it’s gotten to the point where it’s gone too far.
