Re: Shaedon Sharpe - Kentucky
They also can't see the forest through the trees. Establishing this kind of a relationship with a top tier recruit, leads to more top flight recruits wanting to play there. Because, in the end, it looks like Cal has Sharpe's best interest in mind when allowing him to train and use their facilities. Really a win-win for Cal. The fans who can't recognize that have no idea what it takes to recruit top talent. They assume players magically appear on brand loyalty alone.

6'6 7ft wingspan high end athlete that can shoot BUT no game tape. Easily pick 4 for me today and if I start hearing hes killing workouts you could talk me into pick 1. Sure its alot of speculation with him since he didnt play NCAA but you if you think like that you missed out on Kobe and Tmac when they came out as well.

Yeah, folks need to get over the fact he didn't play college ball. He could easily go #1.

It’s sorta nuts. This guy could be a bust that’s just an athletic kid playing against kids or he could be an ATG sitting in plain sight. That’s his window, it is massive.
His draft slot comes down to workouts and psych profile IMO.

Re: Shaedon Sharpe - Kentucky
Workouts are useless in an empty gym. Most of the kids at top of high school ranking are studs in empty gyms.
1. Scouting around Kentucky campus to see what he is like irl. Personality and character.
2. Figuring out his work ethics and drive.
3. Scouting out his handlers, guardians, mentors. Background, upbringing and non-basketball distractions
The question is if Sharpe has a case to leapfrog any of the top 3. I don't think he can go #1 with Chet being there, but I sure wouldn't lose sleep drafting him over Ivey or Jabari. In fact, I prefer Sharpe the unknown over a deeply flawed prospect like Smith, Ivey.

This is not true at all. Nothing is end all be all but everything gives back information.

Wouldnt surprise me to see Sharpe go as high as #2. Sharpe is the ideal guy who rises in the draft process. He is a tremendous open court athlete and has a makable jump shot. Those guys tend to thrive in the pre draft process.

I'm sure he's an amazing prospect TBH I have no idea but who this dude defending him. Defense was horrible.

He has a terrific toolkit but a lot of questions about intangibles.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see POR take him.

Maybe this is an idiotic observation or wrong or irrelevant but it seemed like an inordinate amount of his makes were perfect looking swishes.

A lot of, perhaps excessive, arc on his jumper. Makes are beautiful, but less soft rim action when he’s off. I’ve always been impressed by guys that can make it work — Joe Dumars comes to mind first.

Re: Shaedon Sharpe - Kentucky
Nobody’s drafting Sharpe based on his high school tape and these mixes. They’ll get him in for workouts and evals. I’ve heard a few negative whispers about a Wiggins-esque demeanor, so we’ll see.

I don't see how he gets drafted top 3. Don't know how many teams can risk taking him that high. Earliest he goes will be around #4 imo

this is the draft to do that
Yeah exactly. I'd take a risk on him at 4 still tbh.
He was ranked number 1 from HS by RSCI, here are how past RSCI number 1s were drafted.
Average is 3.5
Recycling this here. To me it's obvious that you take this guy at 4 if he's there.
I'm more interested to see if any of the teams with a top 3 pick consider taking him over Chet, Smith or Banchero. I think certain teams would take the shot based on need or just high risk and high reward mentality.

Plus the size and length. He's essentially a less athletic, bigger Jalen Green. It remains to be seen if he can be the 3 level scorer that Green is but he seems to have a lot of those characteristics, and in a bigger frame.
As you said, he's the type of guy with that athletic profile that should be a late riser once teams seem him in a gym and combine testing. I think this is the type of draft when you can take a big swing on his talent with the top prospects showing more flaws than normal for top prospects so I wouldn't be shocked to see him get some top 3 buzz as we draw closer.

Re: Shaedon Sharpe - Kentucky
Knicks should trade RJ, filler and #11 to move up with OKC to get him. I think Sharpe is the #1 franchise defining talent they desperately need. RJ is a #3 at best. Sharpe seems like the type who will force his way to a big market like Kobe, just going by the way he manipulated the system at Kentucky. Knicks have some intriguing pieces OKC might like and OKC could still get their rim running big at #11 (Duren or Williams) while getting a scorer in RJ to pair with their playmakers SGA and Giddey. I just can't see a guy like Sharpe happy going to IND, OKC, SAC or POR. Sharpe really could go as #2. I can't see HOU taking him with Green in the fold. They're way too similar though I think Sharpe is more gifted/talented.

Shaedon Sharpe is from London Canada. I think he'd be fine playing in every single US NBA city. Kobe was born in Philadelphia, and went to high school in the Philly area, raised by a former NBA player father. Philly was the fourth largest US city when Kobe was young. He is totally different than Sharpe. Kobe comes from an NBA family.
