Most of the games against MVP level Kawhi and George led Clippers who also threw Morris and Beverley at him

Unfortunately we won’t know until the get to the finals and Curry and Giannis standing in the way…

So far this playoffs Tatum is 4-0 and Luka is 1-1… this doesn’t matter at this point.

I think I would still lean to Luka by a very small margin as he can lead a team better but Tatum has gotten really good at it (credits to him, I was not a believer). Tatum is a top-5 player the way he's played since January so people saying it's not close are living in dreamland.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Tough one ... on paper you would think Luka is better, but the game is played on both sides and Tatum is developing into amazing two way player. I don't think Luka will ever get to the level Tatum is at the defensive end, but I think Tatum can get close to the level Luka is at the offensive end.

I’m gonna go with the player that heavily raises the floor of the team no matter who he’s surrounded by and thats Luka.

Luka is in the Lebron and CP3 mold where is doesn’t matter who is on the team, they’ll usually find a way to succeed. The ability in itself is very rare and valuable to me.

Tatum is excellent on both sides of the ball but he is definitely still going to need to be surrounded by a certain level of players to succeed.

It’s literally pick your poison.

Very close but I’m going with Luka. I’m a Celtics fan.

When you say "offensive end" there, I feel like there should be a distinction between scorer and conductor of the orchestra. Their scoring level is similar. However, like you rightfully said Luka will not get to Tatum's level on defense, I don't think Tatum will get to Luka's level as an orchestrator either. Luka's ability to see things and make instantaneous decisions is on a different level. He's doing what he's doing while overweight too... really needs to lose 30 LBs.

the stat sheet is number 1 priority esp in playoffs. you cant win titles with someone like draymond green who has better advanced stats but cant get 10pts. everyone is hyping up tatum but this is first time hes stepped up but lukas been doing this since RM.
Tatum is also less valuable he is pretty much an inferior version of kevin durant great scorer but cant control pace. he is the type to struggle in a blitz/double team.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

Lol the guy is ridiculous.
How many guys in history have had better first 15 games in POs than this fella?
And if they were empty stats but look at how many games it won to an overall average Dallas team in those 15 games (including that incredible buzzer beater), especially comparing to the Clippers team they faced two seasons in a row.
Once he takes off seasons more seriously, it's basically game over for the league.

In my opinion, the gap in playmaking skills (passing, etc...) and ability to control the flow of a game offensively is far wider (in Luka's favor) than the gap between them at the defensive end (in Tatum's favor this time).
Not to mention I would more trust Luka than Tatum in clutch time.

On the other hand, big and athletic wing, who plays on both ends at high level,
who could be elite scorer
at his peak/prime, is dream for real contender team construction.
He could be on Kawhi/Durant level
with elite behavior and attitude and knowing what did these two, Tatum could be blessing for BOS

Please don't misunderstand me here, because Tatum is a monster and Top 10 player. I love him and his game, and would love him on my team, but he isn't Luka. Luka looking like a third straight 1st Team All-NBA, so when Tatum gets there, let's talk.

I still think Luka is a little better than Tatum. But would I trade Jayson for him? Hell no. Give me his defense over whatever Luka's advantage over him is.

Lukas been at this level for 3 years. Tatum is great but people are being prisoners of the moment. One series doesn’t change everything.

Luka still has the edge on JT, as I think he's a tad more talented but I honestly believe Tatum works harder than him and kind of "wants it" more than him.

Luka's pretty commonly out of shape and somewhat injury prone - I wouldn't be mad if that's enough for folks to side with Tatum.

And Tatum had the 7th highest usage rate this year, more than both Westrbrook and Harden, right up close to Luka...fyi. :)

Tatum is a good bball player ,he push and he carry the ball a lot but he is a pure scorer ,
Luka is a lazy flopper with talent who will destroy mavs.
