Re: Around the NBA V: Live and Let Die
Jenkins $15k fine was worth it for getting way more whistles for the Grizzlies in game 5.
Ridiculous officiating.
Same thing with Suns. Williams complains and you see Bridges push out Graham on the sideline, right in front of him, swallows his whistle.
Kerr better be prepared to pay fines.

https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/defense/?sort=DEF_RATING&dir=-1
Currently the worst defensive team in the playoffs, targeting the Joker as the main priority. Joker and Embiid are the only 2 superstars that would get abused like this. Keep repeating him being the best by far though, the more you say the more ridiculous it sounds. Probably one of the few people that has gotten very touchy after all those stats that showed Joker having the greatest RS of all time, including his defensive ratings which were significantly above players like Giannis.
What’s ridiculous is yours, and others, lack of vision besides what’s directly in front of your face. Put Giannis on a team without shooters and zone him up, and you’ve limited him offensively. Double Curry or box and one him and you can kneecap him.
But because you actually see it with Jokic, right now, only that one can exist. That’s goldfish level analysis.. the truth is that despite the disadvantages he had all season, he still put up a historic season (and btw, defensive rebounding drove his defensive numbers, how is that not obvious?) among crazy usage and minutes for his size
Not to mention his season long oPPP when defending PnR with Aaron Gordon as his partner, which, like in game 4, was above league average. But if you do the same thing with Morris, Campazzo, and Barton.. among the leagues worst. Average with Forbes. And since those 4 are all below average defenders on the PnR historically.. maybe pairing him with a good PnR perimeter person would work best. Want to guess what percentile Jokic was with Murray?
Box and 1 works on every single player, that's a laughable statement. And disingenuous to a completely childish level. But yeah, you showed me that every player has weaknesses. A shocking revelation. An immobile big man cannot be best in the world in today's NBA. Embiid & Joker will never be able to climb that mountain with that massive crutch on them on one side.
Going to enjoy another 120 point game where Joker has more holes than a brothel tomorrow while getting targetted relentlessly all match.. as you yell about BITW because you're stuck looking only at analytics instead of watching the game.
Yeah.. except it doesn't work on everyone. Probably want to avoid sweeping generalities... especially when you can't seem to help tacking on grade school nonsense to every time I talk about how impressive Jokic is. And he is the best, again. Now there's something to be said that maybe Giannis could have had his level of impact IF Giannis' teammates got injured in the same fashion as Jokic, but if Jrue and Middleton did go down, teams would sit in zone and then what? He wouldnt be the best anymore, in some people's eyes, because their limitation is to only see end results and work backwards to explain them based on memory. Which is why advanced analytics exist in the first place, because people are often wrong and have inherent bias, which is clear in this case "a <insert type of player> cannot be the best in the world in today's NBA". A general statement that leans on probability but pushed as fact, when any metric, and now hybrid analysis, says its very wrong. Because it is
Love that I'm only looking at analytics when I'm literally explaining it by plays, but sure.. the data here is wrong, you're right. Just like GP2s shot, Poole being good, Wiggins being an excellent defender, Oubre crushing our team, Klay being a problem, Kuminga not being the loose thread on our defense.. these analytics (they aren't analytics, they are hybrid analysis btw) have consistently been well ahead of regular analysis and will continue to be.. either that or I'm just an extremely fortunate guesser
Anyways, hope we dont attack the AG/Jokic PnR again.. didnt work in game 4 and hasn't worked well for most during the season either. Go back to attacking Monte and Barton on the perimeter, guys who dont know how to escape screens.

If you are a Warriors fan, today you should be cheering on Philly, Utah and the Pelicans.

Dallas could have locked him up rather cheaply but didn't put forward the offer ...
Yikes

Re: Around the NBA V: Live and Let Die
I would have thought Dallas vs. Phoenix could be competitive but apparently Suns have owned the Mavs the past couple of seasons.
This is only the first playoffs series win for the Mavs since Luka entered the league. They had a couple of very competitive series vs. Clippers when at times they were red hot from 3 and then cooled way down.
Well apparently they cooled down in the last 2 games of the Utah series, though they won both games.
Luka has to go crazy and Brunson has to play as well as he has been playing but will he get the calls?
No Mavs matchup for Ayton, unless Kleber stays hot and pulls Ayton out of the lane.
Before Luka, Mavs may not have been in the playoffs for like 5 seasons?

Toronto can’t beat Miami. Miami are far more dangerous for us, so we want Philly playing them. We can beat Philly.

That, and we want these teams to go through the grind. If Miami makes the final, you'd want them to go through a grueling 6-7 game series vs the 76ers and then 7 game series vs Celtics/Bucks.

The Suns have the defenders to guard luka and luka ball while the mavs dont really have an answer for Ayton. I think it's the Suns in 5

He's incredible, it looks like he's a massive reason their defense is so elite (along with GIannis). They're the Towers and seem to have similar defensive impact, albeit they play differently.

Giannis basically rag-dolled the entire Celts roster

Wolves already looking to move dlo. What a disaster that trade was. It can get worse if the wolves need to add assets to move him

Mavs has no defense at all. May very well be easy work for the Suns.

I'd love to go to the GB and rehash every argument they had about the trade from the moment it hit.. they were wrong every step of the way. Even last year a lot were saying they'd rather have DLo than Wiggins.. now DLo is going to be on his what, 5th team in 8 seasons?
He's the kind of player we would have built around in the Cohan era. And mark my words - if the KANGZ bring in Mark Jackson to coach, I would expect them to somehow bring in DLo too. I mean if you're going to be laughably bad, might as well lean into it
Return to Golden State Warriors
