The eFG% is equivalent. Realistically, shooting that level from 2 typically means shooting inside, which often includes a higher FTr, which does need to be considered. Also Shaq shot 58.3% from the field on his career, and 58.0% from 92 to 06... 59% is not "far better" than peak Shaq. Hell, in his second season, he shot 60% on his way to over 29 ppg, then 58.5% the year after as 29.3 the second time around won him the scoring title.

The eFG% is equivalent. Realistically, shooting that level from 2 typically means shooting inside, which often includes a higher FTr, which does need to be considered. Also Shaq shot 58.3% from the field on his career, and 58.0% from 92 to 06... 59% is not "far better" than peak Shaq. Hell, in his second season, he shot 60% on his way to over 29 ppg, then 58.5% the year after as 29.3 the second time around won him the scoring title.

There is a cost missing shots. It opens up fastbreak opportunities for the opponent. So, eFG is great, but a perimeter oriented team does have to be careful about transition defense.

So, eFG isn’t equivalent in that sense.
