Trade Thread (EPISODE VII: Which team wants our bad players for their good players?)

The only team I see, so far, that's looking to offload their talent is the Indiana Pacers. They're underachieved in the last couple years and had traded away their star player in Sabonis.

We have a mix of veteran and young pieces to get something done. Myles Turner and Brogdon would be key targets, as it addresses both the backup PG and depth at the 5. But, who to give up to get them?

Brogdon wouldn't be a good fit money-wise, if the team extends Poole.

Too much money committed to guards. Brogdon makes too much to be a backup and Poole will also get too much money not to play less than 30 minutes.

They might as well trade away Moody at that point because they won't be able to give him an extension in 2-3 years.

Given the train wreck that was Brooklyn's season, we're going to hear a lot of this kind of talk. If Kyrie leaves the Nets, such talk will only go into overdrive. Either way, the criticism (much of it undeserved) that will rain down on Durant this off-season may push him towards requesting a trade. Whether he'd have the balls to request a trade back to Golden State is a whole other ball of wax though. Would Lacob even take Durant back? There have to be some lingering hard feelings, you'd imagine. Then, what kind of stupid package would the Nets propose? In the span of a few months, Poole has gone from possible trade bait to presumably off limits. That leaves Kuminga and picks (along with Wiggins) as the basis of a swap. In that case though, what the heck kind of astronomical luxury tax would the Dubs be looking at starting in 2023? Curry, Klay, Draymond, Poole and KD would combine for $200 million in salary. With Steph's and KD's current contracts both running through 2026, the Dubs would have no shot of avoiding luxury tax even after the NBA's TV deals expire in 2025. It all just seems a little too far fetched and too financially burdensome to even entertain the prospect of a KD return. More likely too happen this off-season would be the Warriors trading Wiggins for future assets and picking up someone like Covington to split time with Kuminga while he matures.

cap space and luxury tax are increasing by 2022-2023 season so with those numbers is it possible for Golden State to avoid luxury tax hell if such trade goes down

I actually wouldnt hate this, but it would take several of the following ifs:


- IF Kuminga showed the ability to hold his own in our current defense
- IF Moody showed enough offensively that he could be given the old Wiggins role
- IF we revamped our defense to keep someone like Gobert near the rim as much as possible
- IF we get Dray to sign off on it, which would never happen
- IF we were certain that Poole wanted to stay instead of getting his own team

But for the most part, yeah I predictably hate it. I dont mind Royce O Neale at all, but it takes time for even good defenders to acclimate to our system. I'd prefer continuity over making a big deal in the offseason, unless its for a superstar, and I dont have Gobert as that

It does make some sense if Utah is looking to get out of Gobert's contract but I think Utah would probably want Poole in that deal with Wiggins and Wiseman. Utah isn't a free agent destination so shedding Gobert's salary for an expiring Wiggins contract wouldn't be so beneficial and they might see having Poole as a RFA option as a bonus. Not sure how I really feel about adding Gobert to an aging Warriors core, his contract gets more ridiculous towards the end and he is not a player to build around as Steph, Klay and Dray phase out.

I think Hawks would ask for Kuminga on top of Wiseman at the bare minimum.
