This literally comes down to how healthy MPJ and Murray are…and getting a good defensive 4 guy

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Denver Nuggets
I think until he proves otherwise health permitting, Porter Jr should be a sixth-man. They need him for the playoffs, not the regular season. As for Murray, he's great, but he missed the entire season. I personally think the Nuggets brass expected to miss the playoffs or be in the play-in, but Jokic willed them to higher heights.
However, they need to get creative. Stop bringing back the Campazzo's and JaMychal Green's of the world. This is where their lack of interest in owning a G-League team hurts them. They should be developing that deep bench. If Nnaji can't help them either, get him out of there and get someone who can. Maybe Terrence Ross for Green would help. Another scorer. Forbes, it's time to go to Europe. Hyland has a lot of potential. Jeff Green can come back as a bench player. Cousins too.

“Jokic has no help” “worst 2-8 in the league” “he’s playing with G League guys” yet no one wants to fire the GM? I get that Murray is hurt, but the rest is on that front office. Giving a bunch of money to MPJ doesn’t help your case.

They missed Murray, MPJ, PJ Dozier, Zeke and the last game Rivers too because of injuries. Not much GM could've done about those

Get rid of MPJ.
We need a power forward too.
Getting rid of MPJ is easier said than done. Chronic back issues on a huge contract. A matter of time before it flares again.

Denver's a dangerous team with everyone healthy. All they can do is hope MPJ and Murray get and stay healthy
Their roster is pretty much set for next season seeing as their salary payroll is 155 mil next season

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Denver Nuggets
Denver did a great job assembling talent. Jokic and Murray were huge, the MPJ draft gamble paid off until it didn't, and Hyland has shown a lot. On the other hand, I think that MPJ deal could be disastrous for Denver. Bad backs have a history of following you and Denver did not have to give such a rich deal at this stage especially to someone with such suspect defense. If they ever do get the whole gang healthy, though, they are a championship contender.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Just stay healthy, like nets.
Murray and MPJ will make Denver a 60 win team.

GM: Change or keep?
Keep
Coach: Change or keep?
Change
Relative to expectations, how did they fare this year?

Rising, falling, or treadmill?
Treadmill
If you were in charge, what would you do this offseason?
Fire Malone, he brought in Boogie who's washed and traded Jokic's replacement Center. Find a vet min defender.

The Greatest of All Time debate in basketball is essentially who has the greatest basketball resume of the player who has the best highlights instead of who is the best player

Trade him for Simmons.

I think Connelly generally gets a pass for drafting Jokic, but at some point, he needs to be held accountable for failing to put a competitive team around him. These teams are Lebron Cavs (first stint) levels of bad.

MPJs health and contract will cripple this team and waste years of the most talented player in the NBA

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Denver Nuggets
Hard to really evaluate them with the injuries . Next year with everyne healthy will be a better sample size. If anything i think its kind of obvious Hyland is the "new Barton" so maybe packaging Barton/Gordon/1st for something would be ideal

The same GM who drafted Jokic and hired Malone, who quickly figured out how to make use of Jokic in an offense that looks nothing like the rest of the league, while also getting steals like Murray & MPJ in the draft and acquiring Gordon?
We can certainly criticize him for giving MPJ the max a year before he had to, but aside from the fact that that's already done, it has to be remembered that Denver is operating under the reality that as a small market, you're generally going to have to grow your own talent and make them feel like staying.
I'd also note that the Nuggets' flexibility was hurt by having to acquire Gordon because Grant left when it was stupid of Grant to leave. When you successfully require a great role player fit and he chooses to leave because he's still deluded about his ability to be a star, it's jus tough.

Quite impressed by Denver. Feel a little bad for Jokic in this series, it really felt like he was doing pretty much everything he could but that he didn't have enough help. Murray's absence hurt. He balled out like a madman, though, and came close to pushing a Game 6, which was impressive in its own right. Love to see them healthy next year.

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Denver Nuggets
They should definitely be pro-active if they think they can make additions to the rotation, but the most critical additions to the active roster this season will be the 2 guys who spent the year on the IL.
I don't think any heads need to roll here. Get the Jokic supermax done and run it back again next year.

They are banking MPJ and murray come back 100%. They need find new coach or defensive coach to help malone . They look lost out there in pick and roll. Aaron gordon is still tradeable.
