Lakers not renewing contract of Judy Seto (Dir of Sports Performance)

Post#1 » by Kilroy » Fri Apr 29, 2022 5:22 pm

This offseason for the Lakers will likely be full of change, but apparently, those changes aren't just limited to the NBA roster. This week, reports surfaced that the Lakers are not renewing the contract of an employee who's been invaluable to the franchise's success since the 1990s.

In a Wednesday article, Dan Woike of The LA Times stated the the Lakers chose not to renew the contract of Director of Sports Performance Judy Seto.

"The Lakers, a source said, will not be replacing Seto in her 'director of sports performance' role."

It's a somewhat surprising move since Seto has been a prominent member of the training staff dating back to 2011. Kobe Bryant deemed Seto's efforts to keep him on the floor as much as possible during the later stages of his career "indispensable".

Pelinka fired her, promoted that Nunes guy, fired him and promoted Nina Hsieh, fired her and hired Seto again and now he’s firing her again. Our injury record has been an abomination but God knows what this clown is upto.

So I have to wonder, Rob fires her then hires somebody else, then rehires Judy again then does not renew her contract. Whose been making mistakes again?

Rob Pelinka was hired to be the "Make what Magic and LeBron (Klutch) want to do, work within the framework of the Cap" guy... The minute Magic left, they should have fired Rob and hired someone competent to build a winning Franchise...

He is, and has always been, a disaster as a GM...

Not only that, he's also chief 'Enabler' for Jeannie and Rambis's dysfunctional meddling in basketball affairs... Because Rob isn't going to disagree with any of them...

They didn't replace her position. It's a budget cut. Saving money.

As a guy who works in the corporate world, I can totally understand why we wanted to move on from her. The team's injury record has been absolutely atrocious and we need to revamp that entire department. That being said, if the reason we get rid of her is under performance, then why does Pelinka and Ramis still have their jobs? They have done an arguably even worse job and somehow their job security is set in stone. This management is such a joke man

It’s amazing that some fans here are choosing to ignore how this Front Office has been trying so hard to cut their expenses despite of them being the 3rd highest market while being not in the top 5 highest payroll.

That is the unfortunate fact of being owned by a family who doesn't have their own money. Buss kids eat off of this team's revenue stream and they won't let that margin erode because of it. Only solution is for the team to be sold but Jeanie also wants to stay relevant in LA and this is her only way to be noticed in a city full of stars

They let Alex Caruso go because of money. That tells me everything I need to know about this ownership group. It’s pathetic.

Lakers just might end up promoting Fizdale as Head coach, then promote their video Coordinator as assistant to save money
They’ll probably look to trade Russ for anybody cheaper and just get a trade exemption. They will hope the team will get promising players who will give some optimism to sell tickets. Once they fail again they blame and fire Rob and pray James and AD would want out then they do their version of rebuild by trading them for picks.
