At least Miller is a Wizards fan, unlike Kutcher who was just some hired gun. He'll be working for some random baseball team soon.

Agreed on Miller.

I could not stand Kutcher...what a knob.

I still don’t get the disdain for Kutcher. I’ll grant that he is a slickie boy, and that he would sling announcer-speak like: “He calmly sinks the free throw.” And: “He’s 3-5 on the night.”

And no, he isn’t Buckhantz, whose passion for the franchise showed through in every broadcast.

But he isn’t bad; he’s pretty good.

Chris Miller? Oof.

And how is it that people have disdain for Kutcher but not for Gooden, who is impossible to listen to; who is corny, uninsightful, speaks jock, and butchers the language.

I recall Gooden was panned pretty thoroughly as well. Especially as a drop-off from Phil Chenier. And when better options existed like Christy Winters-Scott. Or Meghan McPeak. Or anyone who can bring insight to the game and not re-tread cliches.

I found Kutcher to be incredibly annoying. Capable but not likeable. Corny, fake and canned are some of the words that come to mind.

Gooden is terrible, doesn't have the chops for the position and is a walking cliche. But he's not the play by play guy so I assume they think he'll eventually grow into the position that easier to handle. It was hard to imagine a scenario where Kutcher would be more likeable and undo the negativity that surrounded him and the things he's said in the past.

I was fine Kutcher. Kinda bland but that’s pretty much most play-by-play announcers. I’m not a fan of play-by-play guys who are are over the top homers.

Gooden was the guy I was hoping they’d replace. I don’t find Drew insightful at all. Would love to see Christy Winters take Gooden’s job.

To Gooden’s credit though he is more critical of Zards players and coaches than either Buck or Chenier ever were.

I was glad Kutcher was moving on when I heard this morning. Chris did about 4-5 games this season and did a solid job. Kutcher was incredibly phony and fake. He and Gooden were unprofessional in my book. Talking the entire game about the betting props. Annoying as hell. Get rid of both.

I think you can only do so much when broadcasting a bad team. The studio guys are supposed to be more critical. I thought there were a handful of games that Gooden actually gave insight. Now he probably did 60 so that's not a good percentage.

He had his kornichiwas and shabbata shaloms really well rehearsed. Anytime something really interesting happened, the best he could manage was an 'oh wow.' Plus he gave off chubby nerd vibes.

I'm happy it's a guy with an actual connection to the Wizards. I wish Gooden was gone too, and replaced with Christy Winters-Scott or even Brendan Haywood if they wanted to go with a former Wizard.

In terms of Miller, I think he definitely has room to improve as a broadcaster, but I thought he was ok in his short stint. At the very least he's not cringeworthy like Kutcher.

My dream was Buck coming back for another round but since that was more of a pipe-dream, Miller is fine. Certainly better than Kutcher.

Now do Gooden next!

Just emblematic for how this organization functions.

This reply buoyed my soul like a coral reef keeping an old skiff peeking above the water.

It really blows my mind that some here think Chris Miller is any good. This dude is a straight up organizational stans who regurgitates the organization's talking points, through and through. Once again, this organization shows it isn't really even the least interested in meritocracy, but instead, yet again, unfettered flattery leading to further nepotism. Kutcher was vanilla albeit not horrible or great, I'll give you that (that one Christie Winters interaction about bleeding is a very rememberable cringe), but Chris "Let Me Kiss Beal's Ass Any Chance I Get" Miller as his replacement is tragically typical of this franchise.

Installing a Beal sycophant into this position can probably kibosh any hopes that the franchise was going to play any type of hard ball with Beal in free agent, not that it was ever a promising thought. Unabashedly lurching forward to giving the keys to the franchise to a CJ McCollum clone.

This was a great take and in my happiness over dumping Kutcher, I didn't think too much about the Beal recruitment angle.

Kinda reminds me of 2016. We hire Scott Brooks to help snag Durant, and end up with Ian Mahinmi. One can only hope it turns out that hilarious.

Kutcher's "konichiwa" and "shabat shalom" made me want to step through the screen and stuff my foot down his throat. He was not forgettable in the booth, which in his case is not a good thing. He was constantly inserting his smirky attempts at humor and awkward attempts at banter into the broadcast. I'll agree Miller is a simpering fawning Beal fan, and an organizational toadie, but the couple games of play-by-play he did this year were not starkly obnoxious. Plus the fact that Kutcher was a Trump supporter in his twitter feed made me hate him extra because I am not a highly evolved human being.

Ah, Miller not being completely obnoxious is a handful of games he relieved Kutcher… give him a promotion, why not?

Right. There are better options, People are less excited about Miller than they were passionate about jettisoning Kutcher.
