NFL draft? Pro or con?

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-draft-format-could-eventually-undergo-a-big-change-roger-goodell-doesnt-rule-out-possibility-of-lottery/

I'm pro, because . . . why not. That and 2 teams have tanked in recent years. Doesn't make a big difference this year, would have made a bit difference in 2021.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

Jets bodied this draft.
On paper, the Jets offense hasn’t looked this explosive and exciting in forever.
Finally don’t feel like we’re stuck in the early 2000s with philosophies and left behind as the NFL progresses to faster and electric rates.

Any reason on why he fell to the 6th? I saw some people had him a lot higher than 182

just missed Falafalle by one pick - and he has a 70% plus probowl/starter projection vs. Max (mostly backup; if that) but we can hope. Also wish they'd grabbed CB Toole ? who had a pretty high grade and the passed over for another (much lower ranked) DE.

Giants filled all the needs and drafted another UNC lineman guy. Man we got a good front office.

We got like 15 offensive linemen.

Yeah this draft was much needed. The talent we've picked up is going to make an immediate impact

We were aggressive when we needed to be, used capital from previous trades to get the guys we wanted and hit for our needs across the board. Our offense isn't set up to be a 1/2 year wonder like the Decker/Marshall days, nor are we relying on a running back way past his prime like a Forte/LT. If Becton can come back and play at his rookie year level, man we're going to be fun to watch as we develop.

Top to bottom, Jets did real well… I really liked the late tackle also, because as Giants fans know, you can’t go wrong investing in your oline. Just solid picks all around. A good coaching staff to develop and Wilson shaking off the cobwebs and they’ll be good in two years. Prime positions everywhere.

I should clarify. From a needs perspective it makes all the sense in the world, but it’s tough to think he’s a threat to start when so many others had him ranked lower. I like conviction, but the good mocks out there are usually based on team feedback, so if you have a guy ranked as a third rounder but everyone else has him as a fifth as best, it’s worth the risk to wait a round imo….

I was rooting for the Giants to take Ruckert with one of our third rounders…

Bad teams usually have many holes. Tough to fix everything in one draft.

This should give me hope that a moribund franchise like the Knicks can get decent too, if only competent people are allowed to run the show for a few years. However, as much as a sh*t stain Woody Johnson is, he's not even in the same ballpark of coddled stupidity, narcissism and paranoia that Dolan is, so unfortunately, Knicks will suck forever.

Carry on.

the utah boys and gersson in his front office is a decent start at least. Jets just got lucky they hired a gm who at the very least is good with trades, not so sure about talent evaluation just yet.

It's Dolan and the Knicks. They'll f*ck it up. I mean, they had that weird looking guy who LeBron didn't like as a consultant a few years ago, I think was friends with Mills. That went nowhere.
The Utah connection is Johnny Bryant who is an unknown entity as a coaching candidate, though players from Utah seemed to love him as an assistant and development guy. Knicks made him the assistant over Kenny Payne for a reason, so they think something of him. But still unknown, and I advocate for him all the time. Perrin seems solid in the draft, but is he that great? I mean, as bad as the Knicks have been drafting, he looks good compared to that.

I doubt Perrin and Bryant "lure" Mitchell.

Knicks don't have assets enough to field a good team after he would arrive. Even if they stole him I'm not sure they'd be that good, and Dolan's reputation is that of being a garbage human being who runs a garbage team, so no one is coming.

Even Fat Zion couldn't wait to re-up and close the door on a future reunion with RJ.
Knicks can jettison Cam now for whatever.

I was cautiously optimistic until this deadline. This FO sucks, and the Knicks will always suck. The end. :D

Been snake bitten by the Jets too many times, so I won't get excited.

Jets haven't had a pass rusher since John Abraham. So I hope, Jermaine Johnson can be that guy and not Vernon Gholston.

Sauce Gardner comes from a non power 5 school, so while you hope he's closer to Revis, he might be Kyle Wilson 2.0. I mean Eli Apple was drafted 10th overall.

Garrett Wilson is the one who I'm least worried about but it'll be up to Zach to improve and make strides.

Mock drafts after the 1st round are typically way off. Teams put in a ton of work in the months leading to the draft to find the guys that fit their team. They are interviewed extensively, have them breakdown film, do private workouts, get to know them personally and the guys they like as a fit they draft. Some guys you think are can't miss aren't even on some teams boards because they don't fit the team.

Ezeuku will come in and compete right away for that LG spot. He is a great run blocker and a very good pull blocker. Technique needs work on pass protection but he can handle the job.
