DLO makes too much for the role he plays on the team. And, he is going into the last year of his contract next season so he is going to want a new long term deal. Time to move on from him. Not sure what his trade value is though. Maybe Brogdon + filler for DLO.

Just add more veterans. Finch is very underrated coach btw.

Brogdon straight up should be fine. Not that I would say no to fillers lol. But Brog is opposite of Dlo, a high iq team first combo guard who both defend, playmake and play off ball shooter.
His only downside his consistent injury issues.
I wouldn't mind just dumping Dlo, so getting someone like Brogdon is a plus for me.

Are we suggesting that one of the league's most efficient shooters take even fewer shots? Or does #1 mean who gets the shots in the moment? That's also Edwards or even Russell, probably more than Towns. Is it locker room stuff? How do any of us know what's going on there?
It all seems like meaningless message board fodder to me. Nobody is holding Edwards back from anything. He will get ample opportunity to shoot or do whatever he wants on this team. There's been no indication in print or on the air that suggests Towns or the team is holding Edwards back.
Yeah..I too understand the talk about how Ant should takeover as #1 option as if KAT is holding him back right now. Ant led Wolves in FGA in this series..KAT is not even in top20 in league in FGA. Ant also benefits playing alongside KAT as the opponent teams still mainly gameplan for KAT more than any other Wolves player.

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Minnesota Timberwolves
Ant doesn't need to be more of a 1st option. If anything less, until he improves his bball iq and shot selection in 4h quarters, kid needs a coaching leash. Tons of boneheaded waving off playmakers and hero ball iso chucks for no reason down stretch. When he understands needs to play within the team earlier in the game.
He is young and that his excuse. But needs to be hold accountabale not be given more shots. He isnt 1st option yet. He carries the offensive load then loses us games with his decision making (dont even mean playoffs only, regular season boneheaded moves like vs spurs etc).
Kat plays dumb, but not to that degree. And he is way more unguardable, if anything Kat needs to be more aggressive and take more attempts, not less.

That's the rub.
Towns might not be a true #1 to go deep in the playoffs... but Edwards definitely isn't there yet.
The hope is that he gets there sooner than later.

The whole first option second option, to me, is so dumb. They’ll both be 1A and 1B since both have games that compliment the others nicely.

Just curious, how many Wolves fans consider Edwards to be "the man" on the team?
Or perhaps this is a Westbrook/Durant situation where Westbrook had the more domineering personality even though it was supposed to be KD's team?
KAT is the reason we were in the post season. As good as Ant had been during the play offs, KAT carried the load during the RS.
The Ant is #1 and KAT is #1 factions may be more equal than I thought.
I thought after this series most all Wolves fans would say this is clearly Ant's team now.
It's only a matter of time. Ant is special and I don't use that term lightly.
Kat is better, however I think most wolves fans agree that we want Ant to get every opportunity to become the guy and hope he grows to be better. If we want to win we know that Ant needs to be a superstar player because KAT isn't.

Congrats to them for getting into the playoffs, it's an accomplishment, but it's hard to see where they go from here because they are so far away from being a contender for a chip. They seem to have improved themselves right into being a treadmill team. Are they willing to spend big on free agents? That's probably the only way they can improve.
This was their young core's first time in the playoffs. If they can't get past round 1 next year then they are in danger of entering treadmill territory, yes. But it's not like this is the Jazz, where they've been bounced for multiple years straight.

Completely exceeded my expectations for the regular season, which raised my expectations in the playoffs. It's safe to say those expectations were not exceeded... or met... they were kind of **** on to be honest.

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Minnesota Timberwolves
I think context matters. You have a relatively new coach, and players playing their first playoffs series.
1. Great for Minny to be in the playoffs, particularly since it's with a team they can move forwards with.
2. Seeing how Finch, Kat and Ant learn from this is key.
Lots of talk about who's #1, etc...ultimately it doesn't matter in the moment. Kat and Ant can play together, and there are plenty of shots to go around. The real question here is leadership, I think.
If...and it's a big if...you can move DLo for a less talented, but rock-solid vet, your team will be better. But I wouldn't move DLo just for the sake of it. Equally, I'm not looking to pay him much to stay, so management of that situation is important.
End of the day, though, make the decision that will maximize your team. If Kat is dead set against moving DLo, or demands he gets a max contract or something...well...plenty of teams will trade for Kat, and you recentre your team around Ant.

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Minnesota Timberwolves
KAT is soft and his mental is weak, which sucks because he is insanelly talented.
D'Lo is bad, he was inneficient and he is awful on defense. They need an upgrade here.
They're a decent team and they fit well together, if Edwards continue to develop and take over the team the future is bright
KAT / Reid
Vando / Prince
Ant / McDaniels
DLo / Beasley
PatBev / Nowell
I think they should bring Prince (good locker room and can produce on the court) and Reid back, and they should find a way to upgrade DLo with someone who's a more efficient scorer and is not a liability on defense, can't be someone offensively challenged tho (because of Vando and PatBev), he need to be a solid 3rd banana.
Someone mentioned Brogdon, he would be perfect.

Brogdon would be great if he were ever healthy. Just misses so much time it'd be hard to have to rely on him consistently.

Honestly just a bad matchup for Russell. He averaged 18/7/3 this past season, albeit on mediocre efficiency. He’s their only true facilitator, and it showed when they had leads late and couldn’t get good shots. A secondary playmaker is needed more than just getting rid of Russell.

lol, no team in the league is trading ANY positive assets for D'lo, get real
However, the fact that he makes so much and only has 1 year left - does make him tradable.
you still would need to attach something for an OKC type team to take his salary on
I think it's a must move for the Wolves, he is rly bad and has been his entire career
Wolves with further internal growth by their young guns and an actual NBA player instead of D'lo would be pretty scary
edit: Brogdon actually makes a lot of sense to them and Indy is probably very open to moving him
I would add what's needed to make that happen in Minny's shoes

it's not just the efficiency, it's also the poor defense
Do you think those couple extra plays he will facilitate in a game even out all the bricks and all the easy points he creates for the opponent with his 'defense'? nah..
also, his skills are quite easy to replicate for much cheaper, there are tons of capable guards who can shoot some, defend some and facilitate some while earning far less. It's not like he does any of those things really well, he's just ok in those and terrible in other aspects

Brogdon would be great, They must get rid of that lazy inefficient D'Lo. Utah might rebuild so Mitchell can help.

Good the Wolves are looking to trade Dlo
