[Windhorst] Pascal Siakam Potentially Could Be Available For The Right Trade

Post#1 » by dgr81 » Mon May 2, 2022 1:51 am

Brian Windhorst

"I think Pascal Siakam potentially could be available for the right trade. I don’t know if it’s for Rudy Gobert, though. To me the team that makes the most sense is Atlanta. Because their defense is horrific, it’s holding them back. Trae Young has got to get better defensively. We understand he’s not going to be Gary Payton, but he has to improve, he’s got to try."

This ain’t it.

I’m among the crowd of people who were ready to chase him out of here after the Boston series. Now, I would not support trading him and especially for Rudy Gobert.

I would prefer to build the team around versatile bigs like Pascal and Scottie by adding lengthy versatile players like Darius Bazley for example. A tall and athletic point guard would be more important then Rudy Gobert.

I would hold onto Pascal unless an offer comes in that we just can’t refuse. And such an offer would require a high level young prospect that could fit well with Scottie going forward. Definitely not for Gobert

Otherwise I’d hold onto him. He just capped off the best season of his career and showed he can play next to Scottie pretty well

I don't think we should trade him. Our most stable road to long-term contention passes trough the Scottie Barne, and Pascal Siakam is a wonderful stablemate for our young stud. (This was probably one of the weirder things I've written here).

there's very few players I would trade Pascal for right now. Gobert is definitely not one of them, I think that contract is another Westbrook-level cap anchor in the making.

FVV went from underrated to overrated whereas Siakam is now Underrated.

Wouldn't trade him unless were getting a superstar in return.

I'm assuming, without listening to the podcast, that Windy is talking about potential swaps for Rudy Gobert and just threw Pascal's name out there. Windy is generally a good reporter but he's just riffing here.

Would I move Pascal for a clear upgrade that is also younger? Absolutely. Do I expect that to be available? Not at all.

And I definitely don't expect us to trade him for young prospects and draft picks.

At this point I don't know what makes sense, other than staying the course with what we have and developing internally.

Why what's the incentive. Unless we're getting another All NBA player in return there's no way we trade him. You'd have to replace 23/8/5 with plus switchable defense. Gobert doesn't do that period.

Everyone in the league is available for the right trade. This isn't news. LOL.

I listened to the podcast and the context of that quote was that they were looking into potential landing spots for Rudy Gobert in a trade and Tim McMahon got reallly giddy like he had a great trade idea and said something along the lines like "you know... Toronto just lost to Embiid and the Sixers, they need a Centre..could Pascal be going the other way?" and then Windhorst (and Tim Bontemps) laughed it off and all Windhorst could reply was "well....Pascal could be available for the right trade, but not for Rudy". Basically just saying Pascal is worth way more than Rudy (to TOronto)

Who exactly is going to score in isos in half court for this team? I don’t see a better option then Siakam on the market
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Masai is in record saying he'd like to have a team full of players exactly like Pascal Siakam. He is our best player and he had an incredible season at the young age of 28! They aren't trading him, period.

The only player I'd entertain moving is FVV. I like what Fred brings, but he is due for a big contract extension and he doesn't fit the long bois switchable defensive model the team has been building around. Gary Trent to me is a future stud, not interested in moving him either.

Brian Windhorst could potentially lose some weight if he finally decides to hop on a treadmill.

The only guy I could see us moving this off-season is OG. Hawks would be an ideal trade partner.

Siakam, Barnes, & Precious = Zero chance.

FVV & Trent = Little to no chance.

OG = Small chance.

OG for Trae Young... Who (besides the Hawks and Adam Silver) says no?

They got a couple interesting pieces that would fit on this team. Capela, Hunter, Heurter, 2 2023 first round picks, etc.
Example trade: Capela + Hunter + 2023 Hornets/Hawks First Round Pick for OG + Birch

I don't know if you trade Siakam for Gobert but sure ain't about to trade him to Hawks. Who do they have that could be worth it? Absolutely nobody.

I'm all for trading anybody but Barnes at this point for the right price but Hawks don't have one for Siakam.
