When Kansas guard Ochai Agbaji prepped for the NBA Draft in Phoenix this past summer, after his last workout, he had a sit down with the Toronto Raptors front office.

In their discussion, Agbaji told the Raptors he was still figuring out his next steps. Should he go back to school or jump into the draft? That’s when the Raptors told Agbaji something that has stuck with him since. The organization told him he needs to be much more assertive if he returned to Kansas.

Damn, maybe we trade up.

He was mentioned, not as a strong candidate but we definitely talked about him.

I can probably name 20 guys people mentioned more than Banton in the second round. He was by no means even on the long list of prospects talked about.

Pretty much every prospect is mentioned at some point. I don't remember Banton discussions though, but I definitely remember David Johnson being discussed.

Banton was not invited to Combine, he was only show cased in G-League Camp, and he was turning the ball over in the first few possessions, which I feel he was not NBA ready. Furthermore, NBA teams are looking for shooters, so someone like Banton are not high on most boards. Was expecting him to be undrafted.

Koloko would look nice on our team. We need a rim presence. Needs to work on his footwork

Koloko is dope. But I feel like if they go the big man route they’ll look for one that can shoot from the three.

If we draft a 5 we gotta develop him anyways.

True, it’s a second rounder. For all we know whoever we draft might not play one minute of game time with the main team.

that would be disappointing. I would hope we can draft a rotational player helping us right away like a Herb Jones

Delon is great, but I am telling you, no one can score on Dalen Terry at any of the levels he has played on. I heard on a podcast that in single ISOs against him, only like three times did the guy score on him last season. He was also all-defensive PAC-10 team. This guy knows how to hound defenders and from I saw in the film even in highschool, this guy plays with an edge to him. He also is a much better athlete than Delon Wright was coming out of college (22 dunks despite being more of a pass-first type). I think Wright and Melton are a starting point for this kid.

He just needs to work on his shot and we are good. He shot 57% from two, 36% from three, and 74% from the line. Those are all promising numbers - nothing is broken.

Also his passing is not talked about enough. He can absolutely make plays in half court and transition. I could see him do well with the athletes Toronto brings in:

He should go in the first round, to be honest. He's also just bigger and stronger than Delon is. Still seems like a back-up at best player, but definitely the model that the Raptors have been going with lately.

This draft is deeper, but depends on how many declare this year.
