He said it was difficult to design a jacket with that wingspan.

i think the craziest thing is the fact that he won ROY and put up these ridiculous stat lines while being the 4th option. Imagine if he was the first or even second option?

To be fair, he was the 2nd option for the last chunk of the SZN tbh.
Was putting up 18/8/5 for that stretch, bolds well for next year if FVV and GTJ don't get in the way.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread 3
After watching Winning Time on HBO I've been looking up some old Magic stuff on YouTube. Rookie year he basically played every position and guarded every position. Interesting parallel with Scottie, perhaps they had this in mind for him with the Magic comparisons.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Magic was never a good defender. In his own book he talks about getting lit up by a few veteran guards early on, Paul Westphal I think, Iceman. He adjusted and learned to hold his own after that but was never really good, rarely guarded too scorers
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Yeah. Barnes isn't going to be the greatest offensive regular season player in NBA history (him and Nash miles ahead, when you look at consistently great offensive seasons for their teams) but if healthy, he was more capable of randomly playing smallball center after an injury and winning a game 7 with an insane all around statline than any rookie in a long time.
RIght now I'd say halfway between Odom and Magic is what we're on pace for, which is pretty pretty pretty good.
Where's the D?

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread 3
I want to see him progressively get better.
Which might not be realistic year to year but I hope to see that.
Whatever his ceiling is I don't think anyone really knows.
But as you compare to Lamar Odom, too bad he had no work ethic, he would have been an insane player.

Samson Folk is really really good. Guy knows the game very well.
Reminds me of Will Lous early days. if he keeps at it he will be very very successful.
its amazing how much the game has grown here and along with it the knowledge.

Sampson is legit, and he should be hired by the Athletic to replace the recently departed Blake Murphy

Samson is not nearly as entertaining as Will, but I think he understands the game at a higher level.
