I genuinely don't even know, but why do people always measure this by finals and playoffs? Isn't keeping fan interest high over 82 regular season games more important financially? I guess it's more difficult and there's a lot more markets to account for.

Last I checked he was still the top all star vote getter. At worst he'll be the 2nd highest next season. It won't happen until he retires folks.

LeBron is simply the best to ever do it, no superstar in NBA history can get a crowd going like the King. His game is unparalleled and can't be replicated.

writer must have read realgm

well,,,,some of "us" anyway.
lebron is a metaphor for his generation. it's their time to pass the torch. the game is too fast or they're too slow.

lebron gets his numbers because he will always be 6'8/255 and a freight train,,,but none of the vets he likes playing with are aging well, and curry basically said "i have no use for you on my team" - the gsw shoutout was lebron's last grasp for the brass ring

Lebron dominated everyone's attention because he was the best player in the NBA and no one was close to him. He was a legitimate GOAT candidate.

Luka has a lot of competition. He's not even the best player in the league yet. He'll be popular, but more on the level of a Dwyane Wade or Steph Curry than a Lebron.

Are you for real? A basketball player tweeting about basketball games is trying to make everything about himself?? A lot of players tweet about games. Are they trying to make things all about themselves or is it just Lebron?

That's what I thought.

https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2022/04/nba-playoff-ratings-most-watched-opening-weekend-11-years-nets-celtics/

Sunday’s Nets-Celtics Game 1 led the way with a 3.1 rating and 6.90 million viewers on ABC, the most-watched opening weekend game in 20 years (2002 Trail Blazers-Lakers: 8.37M) and the most-watched first round game overall in six (2016 Warriors-Rockets: 7.24M).

I wonder what % of the people turning in for the Nets/Celtics game 1 were just there for the potential Kyrie/Boston drama?

As they should. You can't have a player in their 20th season still be the face of the league when you have a bundle of young superstars available to market. It's a credit to Lebron for being able to remain relevant for such a ridiculous length of time but the NBA needs to be preparing for life without him. And what better way than these playoffs where we're seeing so many emerging superstars.

That may be coming. I'm not sure it's here just yet, but we may be on the verge of it.

He's ready, IMO. Or close to being ready.

Luka, as someone who watches a lot of Mavs games (me), is more competitive and aggressive (in personality) than I realized he was. He wants to dominate, not just win.

Good omen. Just hope he stays healthy.

jokic era then doncic soon.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

This is inaccurate. The NBA declined in the late 90s, and came back in the early 00s with tons of young stars, while also going international. The NBA dropped off with Lebron in the 10s until the Warriors came up.

This is so cool, thanks for sharing! Ignoring the overall trends and just looking at one year dips (years where ratings are higher the year before and the year after) it seems pretty clear what's bad for the ratings - Spurs winning

Lebron is still an elite talent even at his age but there are other guys that are better now, doesn't seem like he's interested in being done until his body demands it so might be awhile longer.

Clickbait it’s been better than the last two years. But that’s also because the most popular draws like curry didn’t play in the playoffs+ Covid and boring competition. People wanted to see gianiss but not cp3 and the suns.
More like the curry era is ending after this playoffs.
I look at who gets the most commercial deals. It’s curry by far since 2016.
The data that these advertisers have just show something.

He did a phenomenal job, the sport is becoming popular worldwide again like in the mid 90s. His contributions cannot be ignored.

Eh 10 years, and the sport got big in the 00s worldwide.

LeBron has been dominant for two decades.

No he hasnt.

I dont remember when lebron was ever "dominant" ... he's not that type of player. A lot of his success came from when he learned how to stack superteams.
