What do you want to see out of Vernon to 'earn' his contract
I personally was rather surprised but definately pleased that we re-signed Vernon in the off-season, even though it cost us a pretty penny. My question is this- What kind of numbers do you think him putting up this year represent the minimum output you would expect from someone being payed on his scale? It doesn't necessarily have to include only numbers, eg Gold Glove.
Just draft a bloody C.

I just want him to be consistent and play solid CF. Other than that maybe around 35 HR ad 115 RBIs like last season. I agree with the other posters that he should steal more bases. Maybe 25 SBs this season. He had like what 10-15 last season so maybe if he can boost those numbers up that would be nice. Other than that if Wells can stay consistent and hit over .300 most of the season and maybe nab another silver slugger I'll be happy. I know it's alot to ask but hey you asked what numbers I'd like to see him produce this season to earn that contract.

Well I would like him to win his 4th Golden Glove.
I think offensively 30+ hr, 30 sb, and 110+ RBI on .313 hitting would be nice.
Some of the guys on the team are calling him an MVP candidate. Why shouldn't we be expecting MVP type numbers.
Woohoo! I have moved up in the world! Assistant GM!
So when we become RealGMs we get paid to post right?

You get rewarded pretty handsomly once you become a mod

But seriously... I wouldn't expect too many stolen bases from him... maybe in the low 10's... I know he used to be a 5-tool player, but nowadays, he's a bit more heftier than he was, and I'd seriously doubt we would see a 20+ SB season from him now...

Sadly enough, he is going to have to get better in order to earn his new contract. Even matching last year's numbers for the duration won't be enough.
Somebody mentioned his OBP and I think that's the biggest key as well. He needs to become more disciplined at the plate and take more walks. If he can find a way to get close to a .400 OBP while maintaining last season's power numbers, he'll move into the MLB elite.
