It’s because what the defense gets away with forces the offensive player to carry the ball more these days it’s the nba/refs fault and even basketball in general these young players coming in the league like this

I don't mind guys carrying, just don't be so damn blatant with it.
Ja's Hang dribble is ridiculous  . He needs to speed it up a bit.

If they called the game by the rules we might have final scores in the low 60’s.

I’m really enjoying watching the Warriors/Grizzlies series but there are a lot of violations and Ja isn’t alone. Curry had at least 4 really bad carry’s while he was splitting defenders and driving to the paint for a floater, just blatantly bad and no call, but the refs seem to have instructions to basically ignore those things league wide

This is why I don't like most on court comparisons between older and newer players. The most ignorant comments I see are from new fans who say things like "Look at the way players moved on the court back in those days and look at players today. Today's players are so much more skilled at dribbling the ball".

This wasn't brought up when he was playing against the Wolves but brought up when hes playing against the Warriors? There's always something going on when playing against the Warriors.

Warriors fans legit always be whining about something..

I see a lot of non-Warriors fans talking about it. Maybe people are talking about it because more are watching. The TV ratings for game 2 was 5.3 million compared to under 3.5 in a game 6 against the Wolves, plus there was a carry so egregious in the final stretch of the game that the NBA officially pointed it out.

And that might have been the difference in the game. There were 30 seconds left, with a 1 point lead, when the (non) violation occurred. Then Klay was called for travelling 30 feet from the basket.

To me there's your answer right there
NBA is a commercial league, it's not like the Olympics that will still happen even if some country has to pay billions out of its pocket

If people are watching it means people like it and money is coming in. If I'm the Commissioner I would not want to touch anything, don't change the way games are officiated, who cares what some hardcores think about breaking the rules and if Ja does not dribble the same way as Bob Cousy. This is the happy times.

Not just to the league office... Look at the general board front pages...
Half the treads are pages long and about the Grizzlies (all negative, all whine) while there's only about 5 Grizzlies fans on all of realgm

That's pretty funny, Bob Cousy. So he can just pick the ball up and run with it like he's playing rugby. OK then, let's go!

Hey, if it helps the ratings!
What is the NBA's purpose, to preserve the rules or make a buck? Both you'll say.
But what when it has to choose? I mean the kid is spectacular, he's flying around scoring 50, people are riveted to their screens. Do you really wanna interrupt this because Bob Cousy or something?

Who gives a ****. Do you know how boring, slow, and clumsy dribbling used to be? Thank God they let players carry nowadays.

Like Suns/Mavs last night in the 2nd quarters, I didn't keep track but about 6 offensive fouls in less than a half quarter

There were actually 6 offensive fouls in the space of about 45 seconds game time haha

Read on Twitter

Just call his travel or carries on plays when it matters like if a player couldn't have pulled off the move without traveling, like palming the ball in the open court doesn't affect the game at all but taking extra steps on a drive or palming the ball while pulling off a difficult crossover move should be called.

Suns lost a game vs Ja when he carried the ball on one play late in the 4th and then traveled twice on the same game winning shot to end the game.

It's true that the reffing style has been moving the direction of allowing more and more when it comes to carries/palming/traveling.

It's also true that Ja takes it to a whole new level. I think they could clamp down on some of what he does without having a big impact on other players.
