The narrative about Philly missing so many "open" 3s has led me to look back at some numbers:

- Miami led the league this season with the lowest opponent 3% percentage (33.6%)
- Miami also led the league with the highest opponent 3 point rate (45.4% of opponent shots have been 3s)

That's pretty f*ckin epic. Miami's defense is crafted specifically to keep teams out of the paint. But it goes beyond that. The defense is crafted to keep teams out of paint and funnels teams to take the 3s Miami wants them to take, which the opponent makes at a league worst rate.

Even if a shot looks open, it's often not the shot the team wants to take or is comfortable making. For contrast, MIL has the second highest opponent 3 point rate (44.8% of opponent shots have been 3s), but hasn't had the same success in impeding the quality of the looks (ranking 18th in opponent 3 point percentage at 35.4%)

What's even more fascinating is that Miami flips the script on offense--leading the league in team 3 point percentage (37.7%), but trending closer to the middle of the pack in 3 point rate.

It's all about finding the quality looks on offense and funneling teams to settle for looks on defense.

If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

Strus's improvement has been so rewarding for the fans.

I didn't expect Strus to start shutting down drives to the basket and causing turnovers.

strus stepping up and holding his own on defense is low key huge for us.

Leaves us with only 1 defensive liability in Tyler, much easier to cover for him when surrounded by a bunch of plus defenders.

Im curious, if we played the Raptors instead what would it have been a sweep for us, or a 5-1 or 6-2 round? I think the only playoff team that couldn't beat the Hawks is the Utah Jazz.

For real. John Collins would have cooked Rudy Gobert, and then the league would have rewarded him next season by handing him another DPOY trophy :lol:

bLAH.. cant sleep after that loss to the 76ers....

anyone else catch that talking point about Spo keeping VO in the offensive meeting to make sure VO was on the same page with Jimmy and Bam.

Clearly the VO playing time was a "tad more" then lets get him healthy and see what he can do.

Well his contract is right around the corner, so looking at what Duncan got and how Struss is so much better im thinking a contract starting like 25-26 mil a year. Then we need to factor Herro and his Max contract and whatever Victor Oladipo gets. Remember we didn't want to pay the luxury tax when we had Lebron, Wade and Bosh. It will be an interesting offseason thats for sure.

Speaking of Strus, we need him to be better. Same goes for the rest of our 3pt shooters

We've gone from a league best 37.9% in the RS to a 5th worst 33.4% in the PS, and this is with 5 of our 8 games coming vs a lazy and unorganized Hawks defense. Here's most of our shooters and their RS -> PS shooting:

Martin 41.3% -> 17.6%
Strus 41.0% -> 33.3%
Herro 39.9% -> 30.4%
Lowry 37.7% -> 27.8%
Gabe 36.8% -> 30.6%

That's absurd. Add in removing Duncan's 37.2% on super high volume from the rotation and replacing it with Dipo's 31.8% PS and yeah we haven't been able to hit jack or chit from outside. Had we shot like this all season we'd likely be a play-in team at best

I hate to be that guy who brings the facts and numbers to back them to the forum instead of spewing all these false narratives constantly but here’s this.

Also I believe I saw Lowry leads the team in assists to Bam at 1. Yes you read that right, ONE!!! That’s unacceptable. For comparison CP3 averages 5 to Ayton. Can you imagine the next level not only Bam would be on, but the team in general had we not been stubborn and traded for CP3 when OKC was practically begging us to?

We would’ve won on 2020

Lowry is not a heavy pick n roll or penetration point guard.

He should still be getting Bam involved and it’s amazing 1 assists per game is the highest on the team
