I think they have to at least give the choice to the team get fouled to not take the FTs and keep possession if they want to. I so much dislike seeing a team getting disadvantaged like that because of a foul.

I'm not too familiar with the rules, but wasn't that a lane violation by Smart? He crossed the line before the ball hit the rim. It hit the backboard first and Smart's momentum had already carried him past the FT line before it hit the rim.

Because if players were actually shooting threes like that the average 3pt efficiency in the league would be 2%.
You gotta be convincing that you're shooting in a natural motion to get a foul, not flicking it because you heard a whistle.
