Draft a big and move on. We don’t need or want that around what we are trying to build here.
Best of luck to him elsewhere.

Don’t know what to make of any of it. Figured the FO was holding him out for health and seeding, but that’s a lot of cheese for him to leave on the table. Maybe the FO made a deal with him to further guarantee some money.
I really thought he was going to be great. The gut punch of the injuries and everything else just hanging around. He was so good to start 19-20.

As I understand it, Isaac's getting every last cent of the money he signed for whether he plays again or not.
That salary protection is for the Magic's salary cap only I believe. Could be wrong though, someone double check.

I don’t see how that would be the case. It’s not incentivized, which would be calculated at the beginning of each year. It’s not insurance, which would alleviate some of the financial risk, but it wouldn’t free cap space unless the NBA considered his career over. It seems to me that a portion of his guaranteed salary becomes non-guaranteed, which really only benefits us if we actually release him. There would be no point in doing so until after this season, because the salary for next year is almost fully guaranteed.

havent completely covered themselves. paid full price this past year. likely pay the full price next year too

Who the hell cares about his beliefs why do we care what his vaccine stance is?? It goes both ways why do I care what Disney says about politics either.

real facts are, he hasnt played in 2 years. that long a layoff and recovery is not normal and portends to lingering or continuing issues. obviously, we are not seeing the health reports that the front office is, but if he is not going to get back to normal then hard decisions will have to be made

That contract is another fiscally prudent move from Weltman...love him or hate him, his descending deals and injury clauses are consistently favorable. I'm not saying that Isaac isn't a cause for concern - but he is worth betting on, particularly at this juncture of our team's trajectory. Same with Fultz. The risk/reward ratios are too good to bail (yet).

Absolutely real concerns and not what I was thinking of. I just give the front office a pass because I don’t feel like detailed info on players medical should be released public knowledge. Yes they are athletes and they get paid a lot to deal with it but still they should be allowed to recover at their own speed
