I think MVP Shaq could very easily take Aaron Gordon and Will Barton to the second round, yes

Very easily is a bit of a stretch. Shaq always more or less needed reliable SG/PG's to feed him the ball and also shooters that he could kick it out when he was doubled. Jokic on the other hand is the exact opposite. He actually needs competent people that he can pass the ball to when he is creating offense.

I'm not trying to argue who is a better player obviously but i'm not sure Shaq could have just easily carried this team to the 2nd round. Specially because you can't use elbows anymore like in the past.

not exactly, Shaq in his prime always had an all time great guard next to him.
He went from Penny to Kobe to Wade. Even in those years Kobe was too young he still had NVL and Eddie Jones next to him.
No big man in history had this kind of luxury.

Congrats Joker!
I still don't know what MVP is but I understand it's a prestigious award of some sort and I'm glad he got it
He was the best under at least 2 out of 6-7 possible MVP definitions.

Shaq is still in the playoffs if you substitute Jokic for Shaq.....and I like Jokic.

Pretty funny to see the salty reactions after those same people were saying they were looking forward to see the forum melt down if Jokic didn't win. Looks like they were just projecting how they themselves react to not getting their way.

Giannis and Embiid had 50 win seasons.
Jokic did the same with less.
If Giannis and Embiid (in that order) had a 60 win season, the award would be theirs. They didn't. Which also favoured the individual stats.
Stats were not particularly close.
Jokic led like 70% of every advanced stat category. For the entire season, since day 1.
Nothing embarrassing. It was a great race for the MVP this season.

I mean that’s a pretty weird standard considering Shaq’s the most dominant player in history. It’s also still an opinion and not fact, and one that I disagree with.

Shaq would’ve been picked apart by GS’s PnR offense just like Jokic was. Shaq was also a horrendous FT shooter and GS would’ve put him on the line a ton. Plus with the way the NBA is officiated now, Shaq prob would’ve fouled out in half those games on offensive fouls alone.

It's weird because every media member I've watched this morning claims they voted for Embiid
it means you're watching rubbish shows, those are the ones without anyone voting Jokic

I think that Steph would still be in the playoffs if played against Shaq under the same circumstances. And i love Shaq.

kuclas wrote:Congrats to Jokic. A third in a row will be impossible though. Unless nuggets finish with the 1 seed in the west. And even than it may not be enough.

I think there's absolutely no chance that Jokic wins it next year unless at minimum the Nuggets win 65+ games next year. And even then I still think they wouldn't give it to him because of the enormous historical implications. Only 3 guys have won MVP 3x in a row and they're all in the default top 10 greatest players of all time and I have a feeling a lot of the media don't want to have joker as a top 15 player of all time especially without a ring.

Why do people using "First round exit" crap even though they know it's a regular season award?

So you think Shaq and/or Kobe could have taken a team with Will Barton and Aaron Gordon as their next best options to the 2nd round?

I think MVP Shaq could very easily take Aaron Gordon and Will Barton to the second round, yes

Against that Golden State powerhouse? With Steph making Shaq guard him in space? Somehow I doubt that.
