LOL. Fast forward 5 years later: Joel is a MVP candidate, Brogdon is salary dump candidate.

Now he lost the MVP because RAPTOR and PER matter are skills.

Ok, I colud be a biased Sixers' fan but I won't trade EMbiid for Jokic and a 1st. Expecially this year.
Imho the Embiid's gravity is greater than Jokic's.

Is he?

Well deserved.

He'll get the Lord Voldemort treatment next season in the MVP discussion, just like Giannis last year.

Think Antoine Walker knows a little more about basketball than you maybe? Just maybe?

Then maybe just maybe the people who actually voted for the award know more about basketball than you? Food for thought

I see it more within spectrums, personally.

Media members are in a similar spectrum to me as fans in basketball knowledge (maybe near the top at times?)

Players and coaches, current & present, have different ranges & spectrum of basketball knowledge to learn from. They're part of the game every day in different ways: they play it, they watch film for their own individual development, their teams development, and to defend against opposing teams (there are quite a few players in the positions of each respective player). They use human insight, film & stats to make decisions.

Sometimes it intersects. Former players lend their voices and knowledge to the media platforms, with ranging points of view. Interestingly, not only are we hearing more generations of past players,

But we're also hearing current players and their thoughts, feelings, perspectives, etc, through the mediums of the media, sometimes their own.

Draymond, KD and JJ are examples.

Bunch of advanced stats media nerds, who most probably haven't touched a basketball in their life? It's telling that many current and former players think Embiid was the MVP.

Can't blame Embiid fans for not having time to deep dive the stats. They still have actual games to watch

Indeed. It's the same reason we can't blame people for picking Trae, Ja, Luka, Edwards, Poole, Ayton, Barnes over Lamelo as young prospects. These guys have actually played in the playoffs.

you forgot Maxey, Bane, Malachi Flynn . LaMelo is the worst young prospect in the league. total bust

No, I'm exaggerating.
But it's not a mistery that Indy is trying to trade him...

So you think Shaq and/or Kobe could have taken a team with Will Barton and Aaron Gordon as their next best options to the 2nd round?

Umm...yes? Kobe took a starting lineup consistenting of Kwame freaking Brown, Smush Parker, Luke Walton, and an inconsistent injury prone Lamar Odom to the playoffs for two straight seasons. He would have KILLED to have those two guys for support.

Shaq is tough to say because we've never seen him on a team with legitimately a scrub team otherwise. He's always had someone like Anthony Hardaway, Kobe, Wade, Nash/Amare, etc.

In both cases, they lost in the 1st round.

Odom was better than either of those two guys.

And in 2005-2006 they won 45 games, in 2006-2007 they won 42 games, in both cases less than 48 Jokic's Nuggets won this year

Mhmm so you need to have been a former NBA player to understand the game right? That’s why all the coaches and GMs in the league are former players right?

He lost the MVP because he had his 2nd best guy out all season and got 51 wins, while the other guy who had his 2nd and 3rd guy out won 48 wins. Without Maxey, the Sixers would have been a .500 team this season. Had the Sixers finished 1st in the East, he would have won it. Better luck next time.

Antoine Walker knows more than Dr. J and Magic Johnson who both said they had Jokic as the MVP? Lol

Lol salty Philadelphia beat-writer.
He is right. Jokic has anger management issues and can't be on the floor during key defensive plays, but hey advanced stats say he's an elite defender.

I know you've been obsessed with Jokic all season but this is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Embiid gets into fights and it's fine but Jokic pushes someone who just tried to take his knee off and he has anger management issues? Jokic is also not the only offensive star player to sit out a final play when the other team has the ball. Pretty much the Steph Curry special at this point but it's only a problem for Jokic?

So sad to see you can't seem to appreciate Embiid without having this deranged hate against Jokic.

Well yeah, they’re in the midst of a rebuild, have a guard who is younger and has higher upside to build around and they know that he’d be worth a pretty decent haul to a contender.
