Bunch of advanced stats media nerds, who most probably haven't touched a basketball in their life? It's telling that many current and former players think Embiid was the MVP.

Mhmm so you need to have been a former NBA player to understand the game right? That’s why all the coaches and GMs in the league are former players right?

It's actually one of the biggest issues in the league. A league that is predominantly black, with a minority of black coaches, and a minority of former players.

The ugly truth is, that white owners, prefer college educated white coaches.

You don't care about what these "geeks" that get hired by NBA teams to do their player evaluation have to say but you expect anyone to care about your baseless opinion?

LOL. Fast forward 5 years later: Joel is a MVP candidate, Brogdon is salary dump candidate.

Now he lost the MVP because RAPTOR and PER matter are skills.

Ok, I colud be a biased Sixers' fan but I won't trade EMbiid for Jokic and a 1st. Expecially this year.
Imho the Embiid's gravity is greater than Jokic's.

He lost the MVP because he had his 2nd best guy out all season and got 51 wins, while the other guy who had his 2nd and 3rd guy out won 48 wins. Without Maxey, the Sixers would have been a .500 team this season. Had the Sixers finished 1st in the East, he would have won it. Better luck next time.

I disagree.
He lost the MVP for stats.
This could be an stgrong argument, I can understand this logic.

But I watched both Jokic and Embiid this year and in a pickup game I choose EMbiid over Jokic without hesitation.

Unfortunately I have no vote in the NBA MVP poll :-D

Lol this is truly sad that you’re now making this a race thing

But just to entertain your purely sad take, how about Masai Ujiri? One of the greatest execs in the league (who is black btw). He didn’t need to be a former NBA player to know what he’s doing

Jokic deserved it. What has received not enough discussion on the national level, Jayson Tatum is the only player that will receive or should receive some serious MVP votes that played more games than Jokic. 76 games for Tatum and 74 for Jokic. Tatum played 2 more, the other players all played 6 games or more less than Jokic.

Regular season availability should count for something for a regular season award when the players are close to each other in terms of impact on a game to game basis.

Imagine if Jokic had Maxey, Harden and Harris on his team and only won 51 games?

Stats aren't an opinion.

Stats that overvalue production at the center position, definitely seem to have a bias, which inherently makes it subjective and opinion based. Whoever designed, did a pretty **** job with it.

We didn't need an award for that, but yes, it means that as well.

It's totally reasonable to think Embiid was worthy to be named MVP.
It's totally unreasonable to think Jokic was not worthy to be named MVP.

I responded to your initial post. If you have a problem with it, then you shouldn't have written what you said. You expect people not to respond to that?

And to respond to this one, yes Masai is awesome at his job, and he's black. Thanks for proving my point. The NBA needs more execs like him. I didn't say all coaches need to be former players. I said that more coaches need to better represent the demographics of the large majority of the NBA community.
